Important that they explain in detail what behavior by others is Elder Abuse.
Too many people are unclear what qualifies as abuse, it does not have to be physical.

Those arrested and convicted should be prosecuted to the full extent – and should be classified as a felony

Elder abuse by adult children grifters is a real thing. I had to protect my aging father from this. The sibling perpetrator got nothing, but it was a lot of work to prevent harm to him. One red flag is a sibling acting unilaterally with no communication to other family members. Four months after my father passed, so did the perp. Karma?

Years ago found out elderly parents had been double teamed with pressure tactics by two salesmen from a nationally known alarm company into signing an expensive contract. They just showed up unannounced and talked their way into their house.
Luckily found out about it in time to cancel the contract.
A special place under HELL for predatory salesmen.

Hopefully they include firearms training and how to obtain your CCW, imperative in this day and age!

Related to that is that you should not trust seemingly friendly posts on the Internet. This particular PSA does a poor job of making it clear that the event is being hosted by the City of Pleasant Hill’s Commission on Aging. While they say it’s being presented by the Pleasant Hill Police Department I’m unable to verify that as the PHPD does not seem to have an event calendar. You can Google up ‘City of Pleasant Hill’s Commission on Aging’ and you’ll see this event listed under “Events.”

The elderly also receive more telemarketing calls because they are more likely to be trusting, addled and unaware of the currant value of their property. Scammers target them because they are easier to scare. “Your Social Security payments have been suspended. Please verify your SSN number.”
