It seems as though there’s always one person who runs a red light at every intersection during a signal-cycle.
QUESTION: What can be done to stop red light runners?

It will never end however it can be slowed down (no pun) with readers and mailed violations.
Red light photo enforcement. It works. It is hard to fight the ticket if there is video and photo evidence.
Take away their shoes It might not stop them, but it should slow them down
Hefty fines and then impound their vehicles on the 2 offense!

Enforce and prosecute the crime. Don’t pay the ticket, impound the car.

I think we all adhere to the law a little bit more when we see a police officer. If Concord and Walnut Creek police would be out in force at the busiest intersections for a month, from 7 – 9 AM and 4:30 to 6:30 PM, issuing red light tickets people might think twice. I never see police on these busy corners and yet witness red light runners almost daily. Why?
Give them atomic wedgies.

In the UK red lights go from red to yellow to green. May not stop the idiots, but could make intersections safer.
It would simply confuse the non-metric system people even more.
Not much. Some drivers check for them as soon as their own light is green. Not much can be done about “I own the road” jerks.
Get rid of Olive Garden restaurants! Not sure how effective it will be on red light runners, but we gotta try something.

Fines. Motorcycles officers writing tickets. I learned to be obey the rules after a few tickets decades ago.
How about longer yellow lights? The light by my house changes fast, there have been numerous accidents. My wife and I have almost been hit several times (along with others). You have to hesitate when the light changes to green, which usually gets you honked at some impatient buffoon. Call the WC brain trust and according to them all is OK, they have their silly formulas.
Automatic 24 hours in jail to be served within 30 days of the offense. No exceptions. Second offense gets you double the time.
I’d go for red light cameras.

It’s real easy The city of Concord only has a few Traffic officers. Add more traffic only officers and start enforcing the rules of the road. As of now they have no fear of being caught. I have seen people run red lights right in front of officers, and nothing is done. As is now these idiots are slowing down our roads since everyone now is getting in the habit of waiting to enter the enter section when there light turns green. It seems to that there are more pedestrians being hit by these idiots not stopping when making a right turn onto adjoining streets. They endanger everyone.
Accidents will stop red light runners. When the light turns green for me I pull up 2-3 feet to let whoever is in the intersection that I have a green light. Sometimes I get surprised looks.
In NJ some drivers jump the green lights so beware,

Accidents will eventually stop you from pulling into the intersection while some other jackass is blowing through.
That’s unlikely since he just signed a bill making jaywalking legal. If manufactured data showed that red light tickets were disproportionally written against people of color, he would sign a bill making red light running legal. Don’t ever expect any help from Gavin, unless you identify as a person of color.

Eliminate those left turn lanes that have their own signal that isn’t timed to coincide with the through traffic signal.
Make the red lights of shorter duration.
Lower the speed limit.
Reduce the population.
Don’t make everyone feel like they’re all in a race to see who can get there first.
Stop putting a lot of confusing and difficult to read road signs everywhere.
Remove the toll lanes.
Eliminate all the confusing and meaningless bike-lane markings and designations that are colorful … but impossible to figure out.
Declutter the Roads
Do the opposite of what you are doing now because what you are doing now isn’t working.
Install pop-up walls that sync with the lights so that idiots will smash into the wall if they try to run a red light (Or park in the crosswalk).
Also, hilarious that everyone here seems to think it’s all illegal immigrants who’re responsible for all crime. Like you’ve never seen some little old white lady who CAN’T SEE and SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING blow a stop light.
Entitled/reckless “natives” (You’re not unless you’re Native American by the way) are just as dangerous as anyone else.
I would know, I’ve almost been hit by aforementioned little old white lady, at least twice in the past year, blowing past pedestrian and car alike as if they don’t even exist.
