The City of Walnut Creek has an estimated $169,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds available for fiscal year 2022-2023 and is seeking funding applications from local organizations.
Applicants are encouraged to apply for funding beyond the available amount in the event that additional funding becomes available.
Applications not funded in FY 2022-23 may also be considered and waitlisted for funding in FY 2023-24 and FY 2024-25. The application submittal deadline is Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 5:00 PM. Based upon funding availability and at the City’s discretion, the City may consider reviewing and accepting applications submitted after this deadline.
The CDBG program is funded by the federal government through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The primary objective of this program is to help develop viable urban communities through the provision of decent housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunity, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.
Infrastructure and Public Facilities projects can include acquisition, construction, and rehabilitation of public facilities or infrastructure that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income residents or neighborhoods. Proposals for the removal of barriers that restrict the mobility of handicapped persons and improve accessibility are also eligible.
Applications must be submitted electronically via the City Data Services system. Application guidelines and the notice of funding availability are available on the City’s website at www.walnut-creek.org/housing under “News & Housing Opportunities.”
