ConFire has responded to reports of a small explosion and black smoke from an apartment on Contra Costa Blvd. near Massolo Dr., in Pleasant Hill.

UPDATE: Active fire in one ground floor apartment. The fire has extended to the second floor and to a nearby parked vehicle.

UPDATE: The fire has been knocked down. Crews are switching to overhaul operations. Contra Costa Blvd. is closed in the northbound direction.

One man is in custody for allegedly setting the fire.

Several people were displaced.

They arrested the person living in that unit for starting the fire. He walked out with two knives in his hands and police had to use non lethal bean bag ammunition to take him down.

I used to live in these apartments years and years ago. Back then they were the cheapest apartments in claycord not counting little Mexico aka monument
