As we previously reported, the fire department is conducting prescribed burns at Mt. Diablo State Park today.

If you see smoke today, that’s more than likely the cause.

Thanks to Desiree for the photo.

.
The hypocrisy is real. What happened to concerns about “climate change”?

A burn will unnecessarily release CO2, greenhouse gases, smoke, and particulate matter into the atmosphere.

Don’t YOU care about the environment?

(Sarcasm intended)

Well it’s going to burn sometime. The question is if it’s controlled or uncontrolled. Also the captured carbon will eventually be released as the wood rots or burns. The new growth will capture carbon .Other then that you are right.

Glad this is being done. Living in the 94521, we’ve had some close calls in the past 25 years.

There’s no hypocrisy by doing managed vegetation burns. It is a fundamental part of forest management.
