Antioch Police towed several vehicles and issued citations during an illegal sideshow on Lone Tree Way on Friday night.

Police converged on the Hobby Lobby parking lot, causing the vehicles to disperse. Multiple vehicles were stopped and towed for their involvement.

Several citations were issued to those involved and also to spectators.

Antioch Police say they take a “no tolerance approach to sideshow activity and are glad we were able to remove some of these vehicles from the street.”

Good job Antioch police. These idiots need to learn their lesson the hard way. I hope they have to pay big fines. They should definitely have their license is suspended for at least six months.

Do you think people who participate in illegal sideshows are not going to drive because their license is suspended?

I bet you think criminals follow gun laws, too.

Gavin probably has a plan in place to help them pay their fines.

Let’s look at the root of the problem. U have bored kids with nothing to do. All activities that once were available for kids are no longer or so expensive that most families can’t afford them. We need more things for our youth to participate in to keep them busy.

Those cars that got towed should be crushed.

I believe that’s what they do in England, unless car is stolen.

Sent those ghetto cars straight to the crusher.

Let’s be honest. This is in Antioch? I am willing to bet, based on my training and experience, they were already driving on a suspended DL.

Since when I’m the world does claycord care about any slideshows that happen in Antioch? All go a sudden ECT starts covering Contra Costa and you start reporting? I hope this is a consistent thing because so much has happened in East County that you don’t report at all and we need more exposure. Smh. Just keeping it real.

I wonder what the reason given for citations to spectators was. Maybe shenanigans?

Good job LE! …now keep it 30 days in the tow yard… may not be worth it to pay the fine – then sell it on auction

Are these sideshows advertised on social media or are they spontaneous. They seem to always get a crowd of watchers. Maybe the police need some informers letting them know where a sideshow will be and when.

Sideshows are a minor symptom.
antioch has really declined since 1980s.
Section 8, small footage houses on postage stamp lots to maximize developer profits.

Perhaps this will sound harsh to some however I think it’s a good idea: When someone is caught performing in a sideshow, their insurance policy should immediately be cancelled in total, regardless of who else happens to be listed on that policy. That will likely engage the parents in some sort of dialogue to put Junior (or Juniette) on a better path. Hopefully on foot.
