Great choices indeed. A nice marbled chuck roast, slow cooked, is what I prefer. Cheaper cut, but great flavor when cooked properly. A side of mash a requirement too.

Dr. Jellyfinger June 5, 2023 - 3:45 PM - 3:45 PM

Or the Chuck Eye steak! Very much like Rib Eye but was a lot cheaper….. folks wised up and demand has increased….. price has gone up now.

S June 5, 2023 - 4:36 PM - 4:36 PM

Yeah… back in the day brisket was scrap / garbage meat… now check the price…
GHEEZE !
.
speaking of prices: a place I go for onions has been 68 cents a pound for quite a while; recent as 2 weeks ago… and now; 2 weeks later, $1.14 a pound.
.
If you haven’t… Smoke a Chuck Roast; you’ll be pleased….
ps: don’t inhale
🙂

Book report: Time for the Stars, Robert A Heinlein, 1958. Interstellar flight but still need communication with Earth. How to get the message from a ship going just under the speed of light back to Earth and receive a reply? By discovering some identical twins can communicate telepathically! Not only that but it is instantaneous? Communication problem solved since it seems telepathy is faster than the speed of light. But which one goes on the ship and ages slower than molasses and the other stays home and keeps aging. This story is written in nearly diary format of the one that stays on the ship. More interesting than some of Heinlein’s juvenile offerings.

Oh, and I’ll take option B.

I would hope they held the 4th of July parade. I can’t tell you what they can do with that other one, not without being banned (besides, we once free people are not allowed to voice our opinion if it differs from the only acceptable stance).

Juryisout June 3, 2023 - 7:58 AM - 7:58 AM

Agree..the Pride parade last year in Clayton squeezed themselves in with the Fourth of July parade, but they felt they weren’t noticed too much (they weren’t). So it was deemed they need their own parade for the city to be more noticed. I mean how much more can you be noticed when the drag queens are invited to join the parade and play with the kiddos (as the flyers stated).
Yes the circus is coming to town…no elephants tho but I heard rumor the wienermobile might be making an appearance.

Cyn June 3, 2023 - 12:09 PM - 12:09 PM

@Juryisout
They had their own parade last year, before the 4th of July. And this year’s parade is on a Sunday, which is odd.

Any tear gas like the first one?

Cyn June 2, 2023 - 7:57 PM - 7:57 PM

@Juryisout
Apparently, the CBCA claimed they didn’t know what the fees were going to be so they just cancelled the entire event, when in fact the fee amount was clearly posted for all to see. The CBCA was playing politics and trying to blame the new Mayor for the cancellation and all it did was backfire on them.

Today I counted 13 traffic lights from 242/Clayton Rd. exit to Port Chicago Rd. (less than a mile?) and I hit every one of them red. Talk about road rage caused by our traffic engineers… It would be great if these traffic lights were synchronized.

Recently, I have read (on Claycord) comments about a greater police presence on BART trains and in the system in general, with more arrests of criminals.
Today I spoke with a local person who has just returned from a long stay out of state. He used to take BART regularly and took it again today from the SF airport to Claycord. This was his first use of BART in about five months and these were his observations:
There were no homeless people sitting on the platforms with their belongings stacked around them.
There was nobody throwing up in the stations or on the train.
There were no people on the train shooting up or acting in any other antisocial way.
It actually felt safe, even in the last car, which is always the car to avoid.
Could it be that things are actually being done to make BART safer for the passengers?
Are things actually turning around?
Has anybody else noticed an improvement?

Hope Johnson June 4, 2023 - 2:07 PM - 2:07 PM

Would be good to have more specifics because BART is going to ask for more tax money next election based on these reports.
Reports do not say police are arresting more “criminals.” Just that arrests have increased. Are these arrests actually making a difference and are they related to the most needed areas of improvement? Fare evaders? Smokers? Threats against riders on cars or in stations?
Are these observations based on one ride from the airport to Concord? Stations from airport into close to downtown SF seldomly have as many issues at the stations themselves. Did the person stop at every station and get out and look around? Did they check the underground corridors where many mentally ill or drug addicted would be and from where many end up on cars out to Concord? Was it the weekend or a week day and what time of day or night? Was the train on time?
I don’t want BART collecting more tax money to keep bank rolling everything except keeping the trains on time, clean, and safe.

There is a lot left in the city of Clayton you would have to live here to notice it but it’s a great community it’s not woke at least not yet anyway but they’re trying, yes it’s a quaint small town and the majority of people love it here but there are a small minority that are trying to change it big time.

Oh, please June 3, 2023 - 8:41 PM - 8:41 PM

PSA for men. You do not need to bathe in cologne. It stinks when you use too much. If you choose to do this, do us all a favor and stay at home so you can be the one to suffer with it.

Juryisout June 4, 2023 - 9:45 AM - 9:45 AM

Cologne? I stopped using deodorant as that stuff is disgusting. I told the kids, other family if I started stinking say so and I’ll make some changes but so far all is good. I hate perfume/cologne smell period, and deodorant is just bad for your body to put that crap on.

If?

The Old Goat June 4, 2023 - 9:15 PM - 9:15 PM

The comment about cologne/perfume applies to women, as well as men. I’ve been in an elevator where someone was wearing some pretty strong stuff, and I could smell it on my clothes later on, well after leaving the elevator. And speaking of smelling something on my clothes later, this applies doubly to CIGARETTE SMOKERS.

Oh, please June 5, 2023 - 8:58 PM - 8:58 PM

Solid State, no doubt. 🙂 You know, the younger generations wouldn’t have a clue what we’re talking about.

Cowellian June 8, 2023 - 1:24 PM - 1:24 PM

(C) Satellite

I used to laugh at people who paid for radio until I got a free trial with my new car. Now, I have no tolerance for broadcast radio. In fact, if the SiriusXM DJ has been talking for over 12 seconds, I’ve already changed the station. I tend to bounce between Willie’s Roadhouse, Classic Vinyl, and Classic Rewind.

doremi June 6, 2023 - 11:02 AM - 11:02 AM

As usual, with caveats. AM but only for news talk stuff. Sometimes FM provides some enjoyable music, but the delivery (my radio) doesn’t cover the sound range. I have a stereo for that stuff. I don’t have Satellite, yet. i will enjoy the comments.
