Concord Police Department Conducting DUI Patrols

Additional officers from the Concord Police Department will be out on patrol on June 23 from 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

“We want everyone to be as safe as possible, especially when they are on the road,” Lt. Gregory Rodriguez said.

Concord Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol.

Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

If you plan on drinking or taking medications that may impact your ability to drive safely, plan on staying at home. Driving sober is your safest bet.

Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI will pay a stiff price: an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

So their ability to respond to other crimes will be diminished. Cool. And they’ll catch one person maybe. This is what they do instead of policing crime now. Let’s just cruise around on Friday nights and call it work.

Great it should be a lot safer to drive Friday night. Thanks, I think I’ll take a spin.

And check to see how many DUI’s are issued. Maybe they will get off like Paul Pelosi.

They should also check for a license, registration, and insurance. Could cut down on hit and runs.

Zero excuse to drive drunk or even buzzed in 2023. An Uber or Lyft anywhere within central county costs less than a round of drinks. Even if you don’t plan ahead and park somewhere dumb, paying to bail a car out of impound costs a fraction of a DUI …. let alone felony vehicular assault, manslaughter or even 2nd degree murder charges.

Plus, ya know, not hurting or killing anyone matters, too.
