Pick One:
.
A) Arepa
B) Pupusa
C) YUCK
I’ll go with Yuck, the other 2 I don’t know what the hell they are.
Same here
C yuck
I like pupusas, but the cheap frozen ones aren’t very good.
I don’t know what arepas are and I’m not going to cheat by looking them up.
Cornish pasties for me!
B… wife loves them but in moderation if she can, lol
B. Home made are the best but there used to be a family that sold Pupusas at the farmers market that were really good
I’ve had B) Pupusa and some were good, some were yuck.
But I looked up A) Arepa, …. Dang, looks pretty yummy.
both are very good, but will go with “B”, just because more common….
each are easy to make though…..
🙂
Cowellian’s first!
Anyone remember summers before air conditioning? Before our swamp cooler, we kids spent scorching days in Claycord running in the sprinkler on the front lawn, cooling off splashing in a wobbly kids pool that inevitably featured a swimming yellow jacket, fallen leaves and grass from our feet; we ate wedges of watermelon and Popsicles, played Red Rover on the lawn, and stayed out until the bats fluttered in the purpling sky as the sun set, Good days. Happy weekend, all!
Thank you for the memories, California Toad!
Much appreciated.
Summer nights sleeping outside in the backyard In sleeping bags, with neighborhood kid friends. Yes, summer vacation great times.
What’s up with those new parallel parking places next to Todos Santos Park? They are not even at the curb. Between the old spaces there and on Salvio at the park taken away in front of the restaurants…. Once again whoever is approving these decisions has no business being in that position!
Have been to Todos in a while, so angle in is gone?
If so, businesses will see a drop in business.
antioch did away with angle in years ago and businesses suffered.
Haven’t been to Todos in a while, so angle in is gone?
Original G,
.
Angled parking has been removed from Grant Street along Todos Santos Plaza and on Salvio Street in front of the Salvio Pacheco Square building.
When I was there for the 4th I wondered the same. It looks like it would be very confusing to a driver.
THE WIZARD,
.
The change was made due to the decision by the Concord City Council to add bike lanes on Grant Street.
My mention… have you ever tried to parallel park on the left side? 🤨
ITSME
No different the parallel parking on the right. Parked on the left of a one-way street for years.
Bigger question is why do so many people not know how to parallel park?
People know how to parallel park but it’s when those who pull in after you front and or back that get right up to your bumper and block you in that makes it not worth doing. It’s happened to me several times. Some people can be so inconsiderate.
@ THE WIZARD ~
Yes, a bit confusing to drivers with the way it is set-up.
REPLY
It’s those stupid new bike lanes.
JURYISOUT,
.
The City of Concord’s bike lanes are largely underused and unused!!!
.
Unfortunately, ever since the “California Complete Streets Act” was signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger about 15 years ago, it has required counties and cities to add sidewalks, and/or bike lanes, and/or carpool lanes, and/or bus lanes, and/or light rail, and/or commuter rail, and/or passenger rail, and/or mass transit every time certain types of roadways are repaved or newly constructed, because roadways can no longer just be made, built, and constructed for the traveling and driving of largely single occupancy cars.
.
The “Concord Bike Lobby” is small, but powerful!
They make their presence known at Concord City Hall and Concord City Council meetings!
They’re active in Concord politics and Concord City Council elections! The Concord City Council listens to, supports, and acts on many of their wishes and demands!
.
The only good thing about cities adding bike lanes is that they’re usually the least expensive option, since cities are forced into adding some other mode/modes of transportation options to certain roadways. Consider us lucky that the attempts to pass a federal “Complete Streets Act” have so far failed.
.
I apologize to anyone that considers this to be a “political comment” in the “Talk about Whatever” thread. It was meant to be more of an explanatory and informational comment, than a political comment.
STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!!
ITSME,
.
Are you talking about the new parallel parking on Grant Street because the Concord City Council chose to put in bike lanes? The removal of the parking spaces on Salvio Street to add outdoor restaurant seating has been in the works for at least a decade. It isn’t/hasn’t been the best planning considering most Concordians drive to downtown Concord. So typical of planning in Concord.
absolutely ridiculous. I agree, whoever designed and ok’d this mess is not worthy the job.
Same goes for the corner of Cowell and Monument.
Almost feels like they are getting ready for everyone to ride a bike and outlaw cars.
Concord’s traffic engineers are some of the most ignorant ones out there. Remember, someone has to graduate at the bottom of the class!
Joke
My hotel tried to charge me ten dollars extra for air conditioning. That wasn’t cool.
The devout cowboy lost his favorite bible while he was mending fences out on the range. Three weeks later, a cow walked up to him carrying the bible in its mouth. The cowboy couldn’t believe his eyes. He took the book from the cow’s mouth, raised his eyes heavenward, and exclaimed “It’s a miracle!”
“Well, I wouldn’t call it a miracle,” said the cow, “Your name is written inside the front cover.”
Haha! Good one, Paranoid Pablito!
Book reports: Master of Hawks, Linda E Bushyager, 1979. 1 – A regular fantasy with wizards, sorcerers, magic, and some who can mind control birds or animals. Fun read as a break from Sci Fi.
2 – The Best Mysteries of Isaac Asimov, Isaac Asimov. 1973 t01983. 31short mysteries in 3 sections. Each story with a bit of foreword by Asimov re how or why of that story. I’m big fan of Asimov but not of mysteries, that was my mother’s preferred reading. But this became the “hurry up and wait” book I kept in the car. They are good stories, just not my preferred type. Enjoy untwining each mystery.
The second season of Asimov’s “Foundation” becomes available this week on AppleTV+. I didn’t really enjoy the first season that much but then I was never an Asimov fan. Seems he wrote rather dryly. I was more a fan of Heinlein, Philip K Dick, Zelazny to name a few. And of course not quite so sci-fi but more humor was Kurt Vonnegut.
Ok … we are deep into summer … hot … now, when it comes to energy and global warming nonsense … let’s talk.
Can you imagine how much energy we would save if we air-dried our laundry … like EVERYBODY did back in the day?
Think about it!
Few years back got Grandson all excited about a “Solar Clothes Dryer”.
I have never owned a clothes dryer. The only thing I don’t like about hanging my clothes out to dry is they dry stiff, but after wearing them for a short while, they soften up. I also never owned a dishwasher, and I have no problem washing my dishes by hand.
Indeed … I live alone in Cambodia … dry my laundry in my living room with a fan … takes an hour … no dishwasher … heck, during my move here from Vietnam, I hand washed my laundry in the hotel sinks … I lived 4 months in cheap hotels while sorting out the logistics, visas, etc.
Next year, I am planning to move to Japan as part of their AKIYA program (free homes) and open a guesthouse … totally off-grid … my own water well, garden, solar and farm animals … I feel it will be easy to pull off … after all, we humans have lived that way for many moons.
The crap people buy into these days as brain-washed robot consumers … sighhhhh
I remember my grandma hanging clothes to dry on the backyard clothesline. Every house in the area(in WC) had one – 2 metal T top poles with lines strung across one to the other. And a cement incinerator in the backyard, where my grandfather burned newspapers and other trash, each day.
JoJo we’ve air dried our laundry since the 70’s. Nothing like the smell of air dried sheets.
I have an out door clothes line I use on non-windy days. I discovered during the short time I lived in Rhode Island during the winter that hanging clothes outside (if you can stand the cold) will freeze everything until dry and they will be softer. Worked great on diapers in particular. Bagging them up and putting them in a freezer works the same way but you do have to dry them afterwards. I do have a dryer next to the washing machine.
Dorothy, I didn’t know that but do you know anyone thst uses cloth diapers anymore? Remember putting the pins in a bar of soap so they would slide through the diapers easily?
@ITSME~
I remember as a kid (10yrs old), my mom would have me change my little sister’s cloth diapers and use safety pins. I was pretty good at it, ….Yuck to poopy diapers.
When my daughter was a baby we used cloth diapers, and had a diaper service pick up the used ones, and leave fresh ones.
Question is: do we really need to save energy? Shortages seem to be artificial these days as a method of control. Much of the goals set seem very unrealistic.
When it comes to cutting edge stealth technology military should figure out how zucchini do it.
Mr. Mayor of Claycord,
.
Just wondering why Claycord has been purging comments every Saturday night? Also, I was just wondering if when removing comments if Claycord could go back to the practice of leaving the user name and removing the comment with an explanation of why the comment was removed, otherwise the responses to removed comments sometimes don’t make much sense and can cause confusion. Thank you.
GOES-West satellite set to 30 hour loop, interesting to watch marine layer build then burn off.

Retirement is boring only if you let it.
Think of it as your second childhood with a larger allowance and still lacking in adult supervision.
