Today, the Save Mount Diablo team will be lighting the Mount Diablo Summit Beacon after sunset to honor Veterans Day.
They will let the Beacon shine throughout the night until sunrise on November 12.
In February of 2022, a joint proclamation was signed that allowed them to light the Beacon on Pearl Harbor Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day, beginning in 2022 and continuing indefinitely.
Now, the Beacon will honor veterans every year on November 11, as a tribute to the individuals who served in the U.S. military.

10 + miles visibility tonight….
Will be a good view….
Nice that they honor veterans but it would be cool if they had the light on every night.
Ricardoh: I agree! 🇺🇸 As a constant reminder of the sacrifices they made while serving their country. And, to honor them daily! 🇺🇸
It’s a lot of work to turn the light on, and the upkeep is expensive. Much of the light has been refurbished, but even still it’s not the flip of a switch.
.
FYI: Today’s sunset is at 4:59pm.

Awesome! and thank you vets!
On my deck sippin 2 fingers… watching it look brighter as the sun further sets…. Neato !
and to all a good night………..
Those who sacrificed before us, would be dishonored ,if they say what this country has become.
