The Water Cooler – In-N-Out Closes Restaurant For First Time In History – What Will Stop The Mass Exodus From Oakland?

The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.

For the first time in their history, In-N-Out announced the closure of a restaurant. The restaurant is located in Oakland, in between the Coliseum and the Airport. They say the closure is due to the wave of car break-ins, property damage, theft and armed-robberies.

QUESTION: In your opinion, what will stop the mass exodus of businesses from the City of Oakland, and do you think Oakland can ever recover and change its image of a crime-ridden city?

Talk about it.

It’s more like, what COULD stop the mass exodus of businesses from the City of Oakland.
Is there a Way???, … I don’t know how to run a City.
Seems a bit bleak and might get worst before a slow recovery.

WOKE, . . . criminal’s friend and enabler.
Citizens got crime they stupidly voted for, by electing DEMs.

It will take the mass exodus of the liberal politicians that ruined this city.

too late, it will take generations if you start today.

Stop and frisk, incarceration, criminal penalties, hardline DAs, police immunity….. Oakland needs a spank.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani is widely credited for cleaning up the City of New York in 1997 campaigning on “tough on crime”. He said the social disorder attracts addicts, panhandlers, prostitutes and criminals. Giuliani led the controversial “civic cleanup” platform. Too bad the progressive liberals in Oakland won’t do what Mayor Giuliani did in New York City. The liberal Mayor of Oakland (Sheng Thao) FIRED the Chief of Police! She is a joke! Law and order needs to return to Oakland. Since the liberal Trump haters are trying to bankrupt Mr. Giuliani maybe Oakland can offer him a nice job cleaning up Oakland.

To answer the question – it will take real leadership that prosecutes to the full extent and stop the millions in handouts – when will that happen? When “we” decide lenient progressives can do the job and elect people that will – which means never given 2/3 of the state at least is deep blue

I said “This must be the first time In N Out has EVER closed a restaurant.”

Glad to know I was right. Amazing what Oakland can accomplish.

So tired of the victim mentality, demand better from your elected officials vote out the ones that refuse to do their jobs. Oakland is a cesspool & will remain that way until the citizens stand up for themselves demand better from their community & better from their leaders.

I have been on a quest for a long time now, asking people who vote left if things are not working, why do they vote the way they do. So far it seems like they vote the party line good or bad. Can some of them step up and explain to everyone Why? Why do the vote blue if it’s not working?

That city has not had a decent Mayor since John Reading. They have lost all of their sports teams, and the city council does not seem to care at all, crime is out of control, and they are short 700 Police Officers, Typical demwit controlled town.

BOB January 25, 2024 - 4:37 PM - 4:37 PM

Nothing will work until they vote out the Soro funded DA. Then they will have to lock up enough people for the others to learn crime does not pay. I do not see that happening. When I read the first story I thought of the Oakland citizens losing their jobs. No good jobs and nowhere to shop, the voters need to wake up and decide they are being lied to, that’s not going to happen. I used to stop in Oakland once a month to shop, that was a long time ago, never again. The victims are the locals they are the only ones who can make it change, but they will keep drinking the Kool-Aid and following the lying politicians, look at who they keep electing. Oakland is dead.

The problem will never be solved because Democrat voters are in the majority in Oakland. Unfortunately, they believe the rhetoric being fed to them by their liberal leaders, and in consequence, they will vote the same, re-elect the incumbents, and expect different results.

The sad part is is that the Black community isn’t saying anything about their Black community coming together and trying to make a change. Where are the Black leaders to reach out to the young Black criminals? No where insight. Why are the Mayors, police depts in Sacramento demanding Gavin to change the laws? No one is asking the hard questions because they know it’s the truth.

Oakland needs to shift more money into the police department, the courts and the prosecutors. The council must give up their pet projects to fund law enforcement. Help guide the next generation with education and counseling.

And once all those businesses in Oakland are gone, the criminals will have to do their crimes in places where there are businesses, like Claycord!

The writing is on the wall folks, crime is going to get worse before it gets better!

And don’t forget Us law abiding citizens have to jump through many hoops and pay a lot of money, just to practice our 2A rights!

Thank you Demonrats for continuing to run this state and country in to the ground!

The “Friends of Felons” movement under the guise of the federal monitor and the police commission have produced a situation in which the police can’t pursue criminals and realize that their every move is micromanaged in order prosecute them.

MAGA SAM January 26, 2024 - 9:08 AM - 9:08 AM

I thought it was racism that caused businesses and people to flee crime ridden culturally enriched zip codes. Now it’s not? It’s unfortunate blacks are manipulated into destroying their own communities only for real estate to be purchased cheap and then get priced out. I can’t think of a group that hurts themselves more. Falling into the traps set by the 1% over and over. Then blaming everything else.

PO'd January 26, 2024 - 10:34 AM - 10:34 AM

Really??? January 26, 2024 - 11:05 AM - 11:05 AM

Kaiser in Oakland announced to their workers today they recommend they bring their lunch and stay inside. Going outside to get a bite to eat isn’t safe because of rampant criminal activity. Speaks volumes.

nytemuvr January 26, 2024 - 11:33 AM - 11:33 AM

Maybe they can use that lot and put in EV chargers for all the EVs people drive in Oakland.

JG27 AD January 26, 2024 - 6:10 PM - 6:10 PM

First. Repeal Prop 47 which dropped many felonies to misdemeanor charges.
Second. Build more prison space. I think we will need it.
Third. Recall the Alameda County DA and get one that will prosecute.
Fourth. Hire enough good police and turn them loose on the hobgoblins.
These ought to be a good start.
