And him shepherding the demise of the city with rent control. All fools up there on the dais.

The State of the City address shouldn’t be “sponsored” by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce at the Hilton Hotel! Residents and citizens shouldn’t have to pay $80.00 for a ticket or $700.00 a table to see the State of the City address in person. As long as the State of the City address is a function of the Mayor of Concord, it should be held at a City of Concord owned facility and should be free for the public to attend. For a City Council always preaching “equity” to agree to hold the State of the City address at the Hilton Hotel and residents being charged $80.00 a ticket or $700.00 a table to attend is a lack of “equity,” which creates greater distrust, because this is how corrupt dealings happen, by making things difficult and expensive for the public, which excludes the public.

I suppose he must know that every other idiot on the city council thinks he is the King idiot of all. They have nothing but contempt for Edi, but it’s his ‘turn’ to be the club president.

We’re completely screwed.

OK, so I just spent the last 37 minutes listening to our dear Mayor Edi.
1) he is not a public speaker
2) he is not as clever as he thinks he is
3) he is not at all amusing even when trying hard to be
4) his ‘off the cuff’ remarks are inappropriate
5) his plea for all of us to get along and be in “concordance” with each other rings hollow, very often Edi is a “my way or the highway” type of leader. He is dismissive of other ideas and experiences, yet he asks others to be accepting of his.
6) he spoke a few times of our Japanese sister city and how much it means to Concord. Probably would be a good idea to PRONOUNCE THE NAME OF THE CITY CORRECTLY! It’s Kitakami, he repeatedly says Kitikama. That’s how much it means to Edi, he can’t even be bothered to learn the name. Also, I’d like to know a little more about his claim that council members’ children have been employed in Kitakami… hmmmm.
7) he effectively states there is little incentive to issue speeding tickets because there’s no money in it, most of the money goes to the state and there “numerous pockets of black holes where money goes”, yet I’m sure Edi voted straight (D) ticket even though he knows Sacramento is a grift. So…”screw it, speed all you want because we don’t make money”.
8) he claims to be an ADU lover, which may be true, but I can tell you that I personally have a SFR in Concord that I purchased as a rental that has enough property for an ADU. That was my plan from the beginning and I’ve discussed permitting with the city to get started. Since this recent passage of rent control and outrageous landlord financial responsibility, I am no longer considering the ADU. I will likely sell my rental properties and invest in another state. That’ll be 4 fewer rentals in Concord and 1 fewer ADU, all thanks to our Mayor and his council.
9) I want my 37 minutes back.

WHATEVER,
.
I know that one of former Councilmember Ron Leone’s sons was working in Japan, but I don’t recall if it was in Kitakami.

I hope all you people remember these council member when they come up for re-election.
It’s passed time to clean house.

whatever February 22, 2024 - 3:52 PM - 3:52 PM

Problem is SNICKERDAD that there are too few of us, we’re surrounded by people that won’t make a change as we all circle the drain. They like the tinkling sound of the hollow words and virtue signaling while our standard of living and once beautiful state, the envy of America, is lost forever.

It is beyond voting, it is integrity in our voting system. There is so much corruption in CA. This is where they perfected cheating. People have to get involved at their polling places, and not just as watchers. Also people need to form watch groups and watch the ballot boxes 24/7, during election time ( upcoming March) and follow whoever picks up the ballots ( record everything) until they are delivered.

It would be prudent for us to put forth a measure to require paper only voting/ ID and NO computers too. Other countries have done this for integrity issues and we should as well.

I like Edi. Talked to him a couple of times, not for long but found him warm and informed. But I thought Helen Allen was a hoot too , so what do I know? At least Edi doesn’t wear lime green body suits and smoke Virginia Slims. 🚬

Being likable doesn’t make someone a good manager.

whatever February 23, 2024 - 11:57 AM - 11:57 AM

The one and only time I made a presentation in front of the city council, Hellen Allen sat there and flipped through magazines while people spoke. She was completely uninterested in the comments of the people of Concord, her mind was made up, her bag of money spent.

I have ZERO respect for Helen Allen, I’ve seen her contempt firsthand.

Atticus Thraxx February 23, 2024 - 9:13 PM - 9:13 PM

I’ve always found that incredibly rude when council members can’t be bothered to at least pretend to listen for the brief period they must endure the public’s direct input. That I found her amusing is by no means an endorsement. Though I do wonder where she is now. Probably roosting over some trailer park somewhere.

Gary Benton February 23, 2024 - 12:09 AM - 12:09 AM

Enjoyed getting to listen to the Mayor give the State of the City address. Was happy to find it available to view here on Claycord.

MAGA SAM February 23, 2024 - 9:13 AM - 9:13 AM

Yeah I know Edi, I’ve dealt with him on numerous occasions, he’s a character. I remember when he used to post here. I guess his big city roots kicked in and no longer associates with the tax payers. No doubt he reads every post.
