The alleged child predator we reported on yesterday, who tried to commit suicide after being arrested in Danville for attempting to meet a cop posing as a 13-year-old boy, has died.
The following is from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office:
The arrestee who attempted suicide while being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility was pronounced deceased while at the hospital. He is identified as 50-year-old Jaime Rodriguez of Fairfield.
Per the county Law Enforcement Involved Fatal Incident Protocol, this will be investigated by the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office and the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office.
BACKGROUND:
On February 27, 2024, at 10:33 AM, the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force was conducting an enforcement operation. The ICAC task force in Contra Costa County includes investigators from the Walnut Creek, Brentwood, Pleasant Hill, San Ramon, Concord Police Departments, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, United States Secret Service, Homeland Security Investigations, and Inspectors from the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
Investigators went to a residence in Danville to arrest Rodriguez who solicited a detective posing as a 13-year-old boy for sex. Rodriguez was arrested for arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes, contacting a minor to commit a felony, attempted lewd acts on a child, attempted sending harmful material to seduce a minor, and resisting arrest.
While being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility, Rodriguez attempted suicide by hanging himself. Medical aid was rendered, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

I kind of feel sorry for this guy. Being of Hispanic culture he is probably tremendously embarrassed and ashamed of his actions and decided to kill himself. His relatives probably would have killed him if he didn’t. It’s a shame because there’s so much of this raunchy stuff on the internet and even cable that is very addictive and inflaming to some vulnerable people. Don’t get me wrong what he did was wrong. But at least it did not happen with the real child only a police decoy. Maybe the guy never even did this before. Tragedy all around.

There is no known cure for pedophilia. Not chemical, not therapy, net mechanical; NOTHING works to cure it. Considering that a child’s life is pretty much ruined after sexual assault, I think every predator deserves no less than death.
