Concord Man Sentenced To 11-Months For Threatening Nancy Pelosi, Alejandro Mayorkas

An East Bay man was sentenced to 11 months in prison for threatening to assault House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, and U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday.

David Allen Carrier, 44, of Concord, pleaded guilty on Dec. 19, 2023 to two counts of making phone threats against a federal official. A grand jury indicted him on Sept. 12. 2023.

On Jan. 21, 2021, Carrier left a message on the office voicemail of Pelosi, who was at the time the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Carrier threatened to assault Pelosi. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, Carrier admitted he acted with the intent to interfere with her performance as she was engaged with her official duties.

Then on June 30, 2022, Carrier called a Homeland Security hotline and left a voicemail message threatening to assault Mayorkas.

“Participating in the public political conversation is an important right for all citizens,” U.S. Attorney Ismail Ramsey said in a statement. “Nevertheless, threatening our public servants is not protected by the First Amendment and corrodes our ability to engage in peaceful and important public discourse. This office will not tolerate behavior that crosses the line to criminal threats.”

Carrier was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release that will begin after his prison term is completed.

The judge also ordered Carrier to stay away and have no contact, direct or indirect, with Pelosi and Mayorkas, as well as to attend mental health and substance abuse treatment, among other conditions, while on supervised release.

Well…. if i was anything like:
“I want to tell you Pelosi I want to tell you Myorkis, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price,You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”
Then he would not have been charged because that isn’t a threat (depending on who says it).

Eleven months is too short a sentence. No public official of any political persuasion should be subject to the threat of physical harm.

If only they would fairly apply it. President Trump, and other Republican leaders have all received death threats and nothing is made of those. Those occurrences are usually excused Away by saying that people are upset or mad at the state of things. But it surely better not be the other way around… ie: threaten a liberal Democrat then you get in big trouble.
I agree no one should be threatening anyone else. But I don’t like this inconsistent punishment

“House Speaker Emerita?” As if Pelosi is some sort of anointed royal monarchy. Should we really be letting elected officials hold onto government titles? Should we be calling all of the Concord City Council members expect Nakamura “Mayor Emeritus?” No wonder we have life time politicians.

Nancy Pelosi should be imprisoned for life for constantly assaulting the country with her decades of horribly disastrous policies all the while enriching herself, her husband, her kids along with all her cohorts on both sides of the political aisle. The entire country is in shambles yet people still vote. Why do so many people do the same thing over and over expecting different results? Talk about insanity!

I’ve seen Hollywood people threaten Donald Trump on TV, I also saw the speaker of the
Senate threaten the SCOTUS.
And nobody went to jail.

That he called a Homeland security hotline to threaten Mayorkas shows that he didn’t even know how to reach Mayorkas, and thus the threat wasn’t credible. This was a mental health issue more than anything else.

What were the threats democrat? Madona threatened Trump, so did kathy griffin. So did millions of posts on twitter for years. I don’t remember anyone demanding they go to prison. You lefties are funny people. Do you also have imaginary friends?
