There is always a cost.

Dorothy October 18, 2020 - 10:51 AM - 10:51 AM

Costco also giving free flu shots. Don’t know if it is for members only or if free at the pharmacy for non-members.

Costco wanted to charge me unless I had Medicare.

Dorothy October 18, 2020 - 12:59 PM - 12:59 PM

I didn’t notice if the sign mention conditions.

Jennifer October 18, 2020 - 1:20 PM - 1:20 PM

Usually the small print on the signs state “with most insurance ” The last time we tried a few years ago, we would have had to pay even though the shot is free to us at the doctors office

I got mine at Sam’s Club. The VA has finally authorized the Senior Shots this year, but only at their partner clinics and stores. If you go to an actual VA facility, they only have the standard shots. Go figure!

Antonius October 18, 2020 - 2:48 PM - 2:48 PM

I got a flu shot at the VA on Thursday, they had two kinds. One regular and one for old farts like me.😷

Cowellian October 19, 2020 - 7:46 AM - 7:46 AM

Interesting, Antonius.
I was at my local VA this month for my annual eye exam and routine lab work. They only offered the regular shot, so I decided to wait.

The VA website had a form that we could print to tell clinics and pharmacies how to bill the VA directly. But they left one digit out of the authorization code, so the pharmacy still had to call the VA.

There’s never a guarantee with flu shots that you’re not going to get the flu. It’s a guessing game every year.
And who knows what else they put in those shots…..

The Observer October 18, 2020 - 1:44 PM - 1:44 PM

Life doesn’t come with a guarantee. As for me, I’m willing to take a shot that will improve my odds of not getting seriously sick. The only downside of vaccines is having to hear the BS from the anti-vaxxers.

ZZ October 18, 2020 - 2:36 PM - 2:36 PM

@The Observer You’re absolutely right, life doesn’t come with any guarantees. But it does come with plenty of lying, controlling, evil people willing to ruin other’s lives for their sick personal gain.

Natalie October 18, 2020 - 3:47 PM - 3:47 PM

Even if you get a flu shot that doesn’t correctly match a prevalent flu strain of the year, the shot will lessen the severity of flu symptoms.

People have been spouting off conspiracy theories about flu shots for a long time now. Yet in all this time, there’s be no evidence of any conspiracy to use flu shots to control people. In the entire medical and scientific community that hasn’t been documented evidence to show that there’s microchips in the flu shots, or nanobots, or mind control chemicals, or whatever else conspiracy theories claim.

Yoyohop October 18, 2020 - 7:10 PM - 7:10 PM

Natalie, I’ve never heard anyone claim a flu shot will take away your freewill. What I’ve experienced myself and what I have heard from others is that the flu can make you sick; far worse than the regular flu. Many veterans who had to take vaccines experienced this.

But also as Robert Kennedy Jr points out, getting the flu shot also makes you more likely to get Covid. And that case of Covid is more likely to be more severe.

But it should be obvious that any vaccine mandate would make it more likely that tracers or nanotechnology would eventually be introduced into the shot. By refusing to get a shot now, that dystopian future is made just a little less likely.

reduce severity of symptoms? Drink lemon honey tea and deal with tissues for 3 days its really not that bad.

Patriot October 18, 2020 - 12:16 PM - 12:16 PM

I guess it’s “settled science “ that Covid is worse than the flu. I’ve never had a flu shot my life and I will never get one.

No thank you Health Dept. You’ve lost all credibility with me.

CDCs COVID survival rate by age:

0-19 99.997%
20-49 99.98%
50-69 99.5%
70 + 94.6%

Had to pay at CVS even though our insurance pays for medication there.

So does the county collect DNA samples, force a swab up your nose, or do anything else in exchange to this freebie?

Martinezmike October 18, 2020 - 8:40 PM - 8:40 PM

The authorities tell you about the importance of vaccination, and immunity. Surely everybody must have herd
