A 20-year-old Milpitas woman died after the car she was a passenger in crashed on Interstate 680 in the Pacheco area of Contra Costa County on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The solo-car crash was reported at 10:24 a.m. on northbound Highway 680 south of the junction with state Highway 4.

Officers arrived and determined that a 2003 Nissan 350Z veered from traffic lanes and struck the concrete center divider, then veered across all lanes of traffic and into a concrete sound wall right of the highway, CHP officials said.

The 20-year-old passenger died at the scene, while the 22-year-old Milpitas man driving the Nissan was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment of major injuries, according to the CHP. The name of the victim who died has not yet been released.

Are you out of your mind? How disrespectful…you must be a miserable person to talk like that when a life was taken.

@TRX Stick to your guns, you’re probably closer to the truth than anyone wants to admit. I’m out there every day and see the type of situations described and worse. A lot of people responded to a post earlier on this site about individuals who don’t yield to lights and sirens, yep, evreryone has high moral standards, “virtue swag”….. Hmmm

It was wet out so everyone’s gotta drive careful, the roads are extra slippery from all the oil that has built up over the summer and its slick as can be during these first rains of the season.

EVERYBODY DRIVE SAFE AND SLOWER!!!!

Yup. I was going only about 25 mph uphill around a curve yesterday and my car started sliding into the oncoming traffic lane.

RIP….I heard that the car was ripped in two.
The roads were wet and I’m sure there was high speed involved.
I read that over the weekend the CHP stopped two cars on Hwy 4, one doing 130 mph and on doing 120 mph.

RIP Passenger. My office window faces 680 just before where the incident occurred. I heard the car yesterday (loud fast & furious exhaust) which caused me to look out and see a grey 350Z hauling @$$ down 680 like a maniac. Speeding was most certainly a factor in this tragedy.

CHP and local Cops are afraid to pull over crazy drivers! I’ve talked to a few of the retired LEOs and they agree. They (Current LEOs) are afraid for their own lives. They don’t even pull over folks with no headlights on, or burned out tail lights; let alone blatant speeders. The lawlessness in the streets has moved on to the highways. Sad.
