The California Highway Patrol is investigating a Wednesday afternoon freeway shooting in Walnut Creek that left a woman hospitalized and closed a freeway on-ramp.
The woman, who was driving a silver Chevy Malibu, contacted a CHP officer on an enforcement stop on Highway 24 at Pleasant Hill Road about 3:35 p.m., telling him about the shooting and saying she needed medical help.
She said she was shot by a male in the front passenger seat of a Chrysler 300 sedan being driven by a female, while on the transition ramp from southbound Interstate Highway 680 to westbound Highway 24, according to the CHP. The suspect vehicle then fled.
The woman was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury to her leg, the CHP said. Two children in the car with the victim were uninjured.
The westbound on-ramp to Highway 24 was closed to traffic from Ygnacio Valley Road for about an hour for an investigation, which is ongoing, the CHP said.

Man, that is hitting close to home. I travel that section of freeway routinely. Interesting they gave no description of the perp other than the shooter was male and the driver female.
I can guess the description: Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger… Woman driving ,blackmail passenger with gun driving the highway 4 /680 /24 route from Antioch to Oakland. Probably a parolee too.

I am seeing more and more instances of speed issues on the highways, weaving in and out of traffic, gunning it in slow lane to try and get in front of person merging onto freeway, right turn red light runners, etc. It feels as law enforcement is reluctant to make traffic stops and who can blame them.

The federal government will become the major factor in the economy, determining where housing is build and for whom (yes, that is in the deal), what industries will win or not, and so on. And, we know the shooter filled out his paperwork, passed a background check waited 10 days to get his gun, then passed another background check to get ammunition.

@WC: We don’t know the motivation of the shooting nor how the gun was acquired. Unless you have some special knowledge about the shooter, all you are doing is speculating that gun was not legally purchased.
The VTA shooter legally obtained his guns. It’s not impossible that the freeway shooter also legally obtained his, or had an acquaintance do so. We don’t know one way or the other. It’s all speculation until this person is found, or if the victim has further information to share.

So did anybody read the article? My question is: how did she get shot in the leg? I would imagine a shot coming from a car that is driving on the freeway would not shoot a person in the leg? Or am i reading this wrong?
A car door is not a protection from a bullet.
Despite what you see on cop shows bullets can pierce a can pierce a car door. Just look at steel signs on any rural highway. They also fragment so it doesn’t have to be a direct line of sight.

the shot came from the passenger of the car, shooting at her on her driver side, I don’t see to many civilian cars that are bullet proof and have seen my fair share of bullets enter and exit a door shell very easy.

I have lived here almost my entire life. I remember the fun things we used to enjoy. The Drive-In Movie Theater in Pleasant Hill, the A&W across the street where you actually had people come to your car for your order, the Milk Truck next to the Post office, the Mini-Golf out on Clayton Road (Mom and Dad were so nice to us to make the trip), the Naveles on Monument Blvd. where I would spend hours tooling around my sister on those crazy carts as my Mom tried to find some cool plant What happened to us? We suck as a people in general now. It is so sad of the thought you have to be carrying a gun just to have the perception of being safe in todays world. Heck with the pandemic, the crime makes me wanna self quarantine more than some virus.
