Yves Harlowe September 19, 2021 - 1:12 PM - 1:12 PM

With such a high percentage of vaccinated, why is there a mandate to show proof of vaccination at gyms, restaurants, bars? What’s that going to do for anyone?

Sam September 19, 2021 - 1:41 PM - 1:41 PM

Because it’s not about a virus. Never was. It’s about communism.

Chunk September 19, 2021 - 1:47 PM - 1:47 PM

there is no point in proof of vaccine – since the vaccines dont stop transmission. Both the vaxxed and unvaxxed trasmit the virus.

Anonymous September 19, 2021 - 2:33 PM - 2:33 PM

Because the “vaccine” isn’t a real vaccine and does not provide sterilizing immunity like real vaccines.

We will never have a situation like polio, measles and TB, where the germ was 100% eliminated in the United States. We will never reach that point because COVID will continue to spread between the “vaccinated” and “unvaccinated” alike.

The “vaccine” is therapeutic, but it does not prevent transmission.

Me September 19, 2021 - 5:27 PM - 5:27 PM

And here comes the lies. The measles is still around. Should do some homework. And polio is still around. Just not in the US. The vaccines will stop transmission in most cases. Not all but most. And will help the hospitals.

The want proof because not everyone is from here. Out of county and state.

Will September 19, 2021 - 5:54 PM - 5:54 PM

Sam is 100% correct.

Chicken Little September 20, 2021 - 1:58 PM - 1:58 PM

@Doogie,
It kinda makes you wonder why the vaccinated are so afraid of the unvaccinated.

Good, time separate the wheat from the chaff. Any business asking for this is going out of business. I will not be made a second class citizen. If you help this tyrannical government, you get what you deserve.

Parent September 19, 2021 - 1:34 PM - 1:34 PM

So 85% with one dose, close to 80% with two doses ….

What is the percentage of the population unable to get the vaccine for medical reasons?

Decreasing cases, hospitalizations, …

And yet our *cough* trusted *cough* health department wants more control over us by mandating we show proof of vaccination. Hmm …. I wonder why. The only reason I can think of behind control is that they are trying to scare us some more. See if we need to show proof, maybe they want us to believe that covid is really bad still …. If we have to show proof, we keep covid up front and in our face. A scared population is easier to control … hmm,

Juan September 19, 2021 - 1:52 PM - 1:52 PM

Shocking… the recall election is over and covid is getting better… just like that the state health department has re loosened up their admission requirements for Covid, their mandatory “guidelines” for care of patients in hospitals…

Funny. Same thing happened in February…

Don’t get me wrong… I’m pro vax. I have been vaccinated and that’s my choice. You can do what ever you do or don’t want to do… but if you don’t see the scam then… ooooh boy… you have problems.

Yay! The proof of vaccination mandate is obviously working. Oh, wait. It hasn’t even taken effect yet. Well, hopefully it’s only going to be until we reach herd immunity, which is at 75%. Wait, what?

Bob Kazamakis September 19, 2021 - 2:08 PM - 2:08 PM

How much lower is the hospitalization figure when we account for patients with little to no Covid symptoms, but were hospitalized for something else?

https://reason.com/2021/09/15/covid-19-hospitalizations-are-an-increasingly-misleading-measure-of-severe-disease

How low does the figure have to be before the government’s ongoing response is openly recognized as rediculus?

Sancho Panza September 19, 2021 - 2:31 PM - 2:31 PM

It’s on the horizon, Bob, people are realizing and these health directives are losing credibility. Thanks for the article. I read recently in LA county that 30% of those’ hospitalized with covid’ were incidental findings after pre-op work ups for patients going in for other surgeries. I found this interesting conclusion statement in your referenced article…
“As we look to shift from cases to hospitalizations as a metric to drive policy and assess level of risk to a community or state or country,” she told him, “we should refine the definition of hospitalization. Those patients who are there with rather than from COVID don’t belong in the metric.”

ZZ September 19, 2021 - 2:22 PM - 2:22 PM

Oh, I’m so happy things are looking up. Things will get back to normal now, right? Is daddy Biden pleased with us? I know he’s losing his patience with those who question his authority. We don’t want to make our caring daddy angry.

In his Sept. 9 mandate speech, Biden shamed the unvaccinated and tried to demonize them. After his tirade the vaccine rate went down. — https://bit.ly/3EyDA1c

Deb Shay September 20, 2021 - 10:24 AM - 10:24 AM

Biden’s rant dug my heels in deeper. No vaxx for me, ever, you bumbling, senseless idiot.

Matt September 19, 2021 - 3:04 PM - 3:04 PM

Still waiting for the day people on this site will realize the reason Contra Costa’s transmission and hospitalization rates are going down is because the county is staying ahead of the curve. Yes we shut down sooner, yes we had mask mandates sooner, yes we are now required to show proof of vaccination or negative test to enter indoor spaces where we go maskless, and all of this has kept our mortality rates much lower than the rest of the country. It’s not that it’s not as bad as everyone says, it’s our government and health department doing an above average job at taking mitigating steps. But keep crying “oppression” and “control” while in other states people (including children) are being hospitalized and dying at alarming rates.

Sam September 19, 2021 - 4:58 PM - 4:58 PM

You don’t really believe that. It’s impossible to be that ignorant.

Mitch September 19, 2021 - 5:51 PM - 5:51 PM

The hospitalizations and cases have been falling for weeks, it has nothing to do with the health department.

If it was important for only vaccinated people to eat indoors, why did they wait to announce it until the recall was wrapped up?

Politics.

Save the “even children” crap, you sick, disingenuous liar.

Yoyohop September 19, 2021 - 6:12 PM - 6:12 PM

– Matt – Pick a direction, any direction and drive an hour away from the Bay. You’ll see the mask mandates are done or disregarded. There are no vaccine passports in these counties. Life is back to normal.

Yes, we are being oppressed and if you care to emerge from your rabbit hole of mainstream media and enter the real world, you’ll see the pandemic is done.

Malingering is a psychological term used for those who are no longer sick but don’t want to move on because they derive a secondary benefit from being crippled. Even early philosophers recognized this concept – noting that Hell is a destination of one’s own choosing.

Are you a malingerer Matt? Maybe it’s time to take off the mask, get some fresh air and move on.

nytemuvr September 19, 2021 - 6:20 PM - 6:20 PM

@Matt…We used to call that “a cold day in Hell”, keep on drinking that MSM flavored Kool-aid….and don’t use a plastic straw either.

Chuq September 19, 2021 - 6:32 PM - 6:32 PM

It’s frustrating that these strict measures (which are absolutely frustrating) have clearly made us safer than places like Florida and people still peddle their conspiracy theories and seek to undermine the progress that we have made. They would rather put their grandmother in the hospital than get a simple, safe vaccine that has been demonstrably effective.

Pat September 19, 2021 - 7:11 PM - 7:11 PM

Yes, Matt – the voice of reason and common sense.

And the Tooth Fairy is real!
And so is the Easter Bunny
And old Santa Claus

They all must be if you really believe the words you typed up there ….

Our Health Department doing an above average job …. That is some funny stuff right there! Down right hysterical! And if you believe that, I have some Ocean Front property in Nevada for you.

Russ Sayin September 19, 2021 - 8:28 PM - 8:28 PM

Stop making sense.

@ Matt
In the case you are not just being a troll
Please wake up!
I’ve traveled to seven states in the last months. Red states and even blue. No one was masked like I see here.
I was at a concert and a rodeo , a street fair, a car show etc. and ate at several restaurants. Servers were not even masked!
I survived!!!
Wake up!
People think here in our county they haven’t died of Covid bc our govt has kept them safe.
It’s really an insane way to think
Wake up!!!!!

Me September 19, 2021 - 10:21 PM - 10:21 PM

You are right Matt. And anyone who says otherwise is straight of blind. You have so many people that live in fear thinking everyone is out to get them. It’s a joke. They talk about how “My Body My Choice” “My Freedom”

Freedom is not a right it’s a catch phrase…we have freedom of speech but its regulated . Freedom of movement but it’s regulated. How can you go on thinking we live in a free society You pay for everything . You may even be asked to pay for this non existing freedom with your life.

@Yoyohop

That is a lie. As you can see in windows all over the bay. Masks are still required for a lot of indoors things. It’s even posted in windows. A lot will ask you to put one on. Even if it’s not a mandate. They can still kick you out.

Gittyup September 20, 2021 - 6:26 AM - 6:26 AM

@Russ Sayin Yet, here you are.

parent September 20, 2021 - 6:32 AM - 6:32 AM

@ Me

Matt is right? Umm, do you live in opposite world?

Let’s correct a couple of your mistakes;
Freedom is a right in this country. Freedom of religion come to my mind … You can pick and choose the words you want to say, but myself and many others know Freedom is a right in this country.

As for Masks; yep they are ‘required’ and ‘poisted’, but they are not ‘enforced’ in the bay area. Costco on Monument is not enforcing them and many other small businesses. Check out the 7-11’s throughout the county, most people that work there are NOT wearing masks and most people walking in are not either. So how is Yoyo lying, how? Or do you not see those places because you choose to live in fear?

Chuq September 20, 2021 - 8:56 AM - 8:56 AM

People have the freedom to not get the vaccine. They are just not going to be able to dine in restaurants for a while. There is DoorDash and takeout that will allow them to have those same meals at home.

People have the freedom to get blackout drunk if they want to, they aren’t allowed to drive a car while doing so. Why do you suppose that is when it’s a clear abridgement of their personal freedom?

Led September 20, 2021 - 5:08 PM - 5:08 PM

“Something happened, therefore everything preceding it must have caused it.” Wow, how scientific. Why did cases fall precipitously in late winter when no forecasters predicted it would do so? Why did they rise this early summer? Was that also because our officials did such a good job?

We have high levels of vaccination, and combine that with the naturally acquired immunity, COVID is not a big deal for CoCo County anymore. So in that sense I agree. But the conclusion to be drawn is not “therefore we should keep COVID theatre forever”, but “this isn’t a crisis anymore and we shouldn’t be ruled by public health emergency orders anymore.”

Graceful September 19, 2021 - 3:26 PM - 3:26 PM

Why not google the total number of ICU beds in Contra Costa County…the TOTAL ICU beds. For all ICU depts in CCC. and the divide the number of cases for the whole county ICU bed count.

Cellophane September 19, 2021 - 4:56 PM - 4:56 PM

I read an article today that said that the Chinese government is reducing the time Chinese children can play video games from 9 hours a week to 1.5 hours a week. And then only on weekends.

I can’t vouch for the validity of this article.

I just wonder when similar restrictions will turn up here.

The health care mandates have nothing to do with the virus.

It’s all about controlling the people.

Once they got control, as they do now, they’ll never give it up.

Willingly.

Bob Kazamakis September 19, 2021 - 11:53 PM - 11:53 PM

What I’ve seen was 3 hours a week. Specifically from 8p.m. to 9p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (plus some holidays).
https://www.npr.org/2021/08/30/1032489883/china-kids-video-games-limits

Personally, I’d say that the government would neither have the ability to so stop people from playing video games so much
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tVkfnTJSA68
Nor would they want to, since it helps to keep many of us passive while they violate our rights. From having people under stay home under house arrest (Quarantine of healthy people) to much more blatantly violating our rights. Bread and circuses and all that.

Otherwise, spot on.

chuckie the troll September 19, 2021 - 6:42 PM - 6:42 PM

Get out of Kleptofornica if you can. I did am I M not regretting it a bit. If you want to be part of the 1984 Project go ahead. I am going to stores, Church and restaurants without a mask and don’t have to worry about Gavin bin Lyin and his brown shirts . Do your homework and research and then make a decision.

Sam September 19, 2021 - 6:43 PM - 6:43 PM

I want proof COVID is different then the flu or the common cold. I want the evidence that this new strain of sickness is actually new. I’m sick of getting medical instructions from lying politicians and lying media outlets. Is this really to much to ask for? I think not. In a real world situation, Tony Fauci would have been fired years ago for his AIDS failures. The world is not as real as it should be. Therefore I demand proof and evidence. Watching hollywood stars and politicos and media run propaganda ain’t selling me nothing. GIVE ME THE FACTUAL EVIDENCE if you can.

Puffandstuff September 19, 2021 - 7:43 PM - 7:43 PM

When the elites are caught so openly flouting, not just their own advice, but the laws that they pass, it really demonstrates that they don’t even believe in what they say.

But on the flip side, I heard that Obama’s birthday party was really cool

Actually Puff, I stand corrected my own self.
Your typo “de” and “war” are actual words & spell check would not have alerted you to the typo goofical error unless it was spelled as one word as you intended……. but the words were spelled correctly as two separate words.

What is lacking on our computers is a feature that will alert us when our sentence structure is katywumpus, makes no sense or is redundant…. or perhaps it already exists somewhere?
