In the morning I was riding my motorcycle to work and indeed the road was closed by the police. But I have already had situations where at 4 in the morning people from the restaurant were running through the streets there. One time there, I almost ran over a woman who was dressed in black and was invisible, and I bypassed her at the last minute. There is an intersection with a traffic light 50 feet away, but people are lazy to approach the traffic light and cross the pedestrian crossing. I am not surprised that someone was hit by a vehicle there.

Twice in the past couple of weeks, when I was driving someone crossed the road, where there were no marked pedestrian walk way. One was on Contra Costa Blvd, he came out of nowhere in dark clothing, if I had been driving a little faster not sure what would have happened, they other one was on Center Blvd in Martinez, which in s areas are fairly dark, again the person was wearing all black clothing and just stepped off the curb without looking either way. Not saying that is what happened on Momument, but it certainly is a possibility. However, I had been unlucky enough to hit either of those 2 people I would have stayed and cooperated with the police. If the person in the car had been drinking or was otherwise under the influence they would be reluctant to stay around even if it was not their fault, because under those circumstance they would automatically be deemed guilty.

A Curse on the driver of the car that struck the pedestrian then drove away.

May all their fingers and toes grow together.

May their mouth, nose, ears, and everything else close

leaving only their rectum to breathe through along with its other usual function.

100% appropriate. I hope this happens.

WRONG, and your “curse” has no merit.
If the driver was here illegally and driving without a license / insurance etc – they’re only going to get a catch & release.

If the driver is an honest citizen….if they survive the “hate” crime accusations or bring attacked by the mob – their life will be ruined in the courts. All because some Drunk decided to BREAK THE LAW!!!

My bet is most of these hit and runs are done by drivers with no license or insurance. There have been too many of them lately. Maybe the police in some areas should have checkpoints checking for a license and insurance. They will probably find more without than drunk drivers.

@ Ricardoh, you left out DUI and having drugs.

Ricardoh December 11, 2021 - 6:33 PM - 6:33 PM

You are correct Hill. A drunk high person with no license and insurance. Added smiling face.

I understand that people get scared an try to escape, but you have to do the right thing and stop and help the victim. Something has happened where people do not value human life anymore. They would stop for a dog , but not a person
Who raised someone without any morals or conscience?. What has happened to our society? The punishment will be far worse when they find them and they will.
May the pedestrian fully recover from the injuries

probably some homeless drunk walking into the road in a last second instant as cars pass to end it all or live to collect a payday of someone’s garnished wages for the rest of their life.

Or somebody walking home after working the late shift at McDonalds because they can’t afford a car and have 5 kids to feed at home. You don’t really know, do you?

Exit 12A December 11, 2021 - 4:24 PM - 4:24 PM

.
Yea, the motorist should have stopped.
.
CPD is probably scouring the immediate area for video.
.
Was the victim involved in a confrontation prior to being run over?.
.
Was the pedestrian in a crosswalk or jaywalking?
.
Was the pedestrian inebriated? Let’s see what the toxicology report indicates because it could have been a contributing factor.
.
CPD and the City of Concord should consider surveillance cameras in high crime/incident areas.

I have to say there are more and more people, criminals, thieves, that wear all black and are out when it is dark. If one has no respect for themselves and does not wear something that is visible well thye are taking their lives into their own hands. Drivers like myself are extremely cautious but when someone jumbs out in front of you that is another story.

I am not about to lose all that I have worked for (to many years to count) and paid more than my fair share of taxes to lose it for some idiot.
