Cal State East Bay To Start Spring Semester Virtually

Cal State East Bay will start their spring semesters virtually in an effort to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, school officials said Thursday.

Instructional activities will be fully remote through at least the end of January, the school announced, while the university’s Hayward, Concord and Oakland campuses are remaining open for services when the semester begins on Jan. 18. Remote operation will pertain to instructional activities only.

Cal State East Bay President Cathy Sandeen said in a statement that the university made its decision to start virtually to reduce the population density of its campuses.

“Our students, staff and faculty have done a commendable job in preventing the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses through vaccination, regular testing and following public health guidance,” Sandeen said. “To date, we have not had any community transmission and this latest decision will help us maintain a high level of safety.”

We are certainly going down a ‘slippery slope’ with this knee-jerk reaction to every new variant that we will most definitely encounter forever as viruses mutate…

“To date, we have not had any community transmission and this latest decision will help us maintain a high level of safety.”—I ask, then why leave the house when you are highly safe there?

.
The hysteria goes on…

When will the left wing control freaks wage war on the common cold?

Now they’re making up variants, “fluorna.” It’s COVID and the flu combined.

So when are they going to close the grade schools, junior high and high schools again? How are you supposed to remote learn pre-school or kindergarten? Now I see why so many people are homeschooling their kids

This overreaction needs to end. My company has been working on-site this entire declared pandemic. Some people here have gotten the ‘rona, some have not; it’s just how it is and we do what we have to do to get our work done. Sidenote: none of us have been called heroes for working this entire time. People need to stop letting fear of sickness, politicians, and unelected bureaucrats run their lives.

Before long, the common cold virus is gonna be known as the beta variant, the gamma variant, the kappa variant or something else – just so the politicians can continue to try exerting control over the population.

Nope.

Imagine paying full price and having zero access to the campus or its facilities.

It’s a hilarious scam they’re playing on the students.

The teachers still masquerade as heroes and worthwhile citizens.

The world keeps spinning!

Just don’t include the fees on your property taxes that go to the schools.

F… them.

Ooooohhh so scary….Omicron…..what a scary name….oooooohhh…I’m shaking in my boots…
Yes dopes, it’s a cold. Quit being a bunch of pansies.

This equates to “teacher the dog ate my homework” excuse… except in reverse…so incredibly irresponsible “leadership”

Glen223 January 6, 2022 - 7:24 PM - 7:24 PM

This country/county/state has no “leaders” – just power-hungry control freaks (ie, politicians) that claim to be watching out for you and me.

And it doesn’t matter what position they’re in – any elected or appointed bureaucrats need to be kicked to the curb.

Well, at least some students can click on the mute button as soon as some professors start ranting about how holy Karl Marx is and how this current administration is bringing world peace as opposed to the last one, in addition to whatever other political propaganda they want students to side with even though it has NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the subject being studied.

Great comment!

If we paid these people “virtually” this insanity would end. Like the old joke about Communist Russia… “They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work.”
