On Tuesday afternoon, the FBI and San Francisco Gang Units tracked a 29-year-old man wanted for a parole violation to a room at a local hotel in Pleasant Hill.

The suspect had arrest warrants for multiple firearms violations and ramming a police vehicle during a pursuit.

He was considered armed and dangerous. While the target room was being monitored, the Central County SWAT team responded and began setting up.

The suspect and a female acquaintance were arrested by the SWAT team outside the hotel. Both suspects were turned over to the FBI after interviews.

Police say using the SWAT team helps reduce the risk to the public and officers by making a variety of resources available for volatile and rapidly changing situations.

The Central County SWAT team has members of the Pleasant Hill, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Martinez, and BART Police Departments and includes a tactical team, tactical medics, K9s, crisis negotiators, tactical dispatchers, and drone operators.

The suspect’s name was not released.

I saw that SWAT truck and another behind it jamming on 680N yesterday afternoon with their lights on. I was wondering what they were doing.

Antler March 23, 2022 - 11:46 AM - 11:46 AM

THERE! THAT’s one of the vehicles I was asking about a couple of weeks ago. Good job!

Schmee March 23, 2022 - 11:47 AM - 11:47 AM

Extended stay hotels attract criminals running criminal enterprises.

Commenter March 23, 2022 - 1:22 PM - 1:22 PM

This incident did not occur at an extended stay… but thanks for the opinion

Schmee March 23, 2022 - 2:48 PM - 2:48 PM

Oops looked like it from that angle. I see now it’s the old courtyard Marriott now under dubious management.

Randy March 23, 2022 - 11:48 AM - 11:48 AM

.. good job LE! .but why not disclose names and pictures? …. oh.. that’s why

Martinezmike March 23, 2022 - 11:54 AM - 11:54 AM

No names, no pictures. How do we even know that this was a man who was arrested? Has he self identified?

sam malone March 23, 2022 - 11:57 AM - 11:57 AM

Thank you LE. Hope Becton doesn’t stick her nose in this and get the creep off of charges. She is a very bad respresentation of what a district attorney is elected to do. Panders to the criminals and rewards them.

Darwin March 23, 2022 - 2:37 PM - 2:37 PM

@Sam Malone
Becton acts like a defense attorney.

WC March 23, 2022 - 11:58 AM - 11:58 AM

Why haven’t the boob County Supervisors defunded the SWAT team?

WC Boob March 23, 2022 - 2:57 PM - 2:57 PM

Because the only boob is you.

Janus March 23, 2022 - 7:15 PM - 7:15 PM

Maybe actually read the article and use some critical thinking skills before commenting next time?

The members, as listed in the article, are all municipal police departments and one special district. They pooled their resources and funding.

The County of Contra Costa nor the City of Concord has any involvement. Contract cities such as Lafayette, Danville and Orinda get their police serves from the Sheriff who has his own tactical teams as does the City of Concord.

Hard to defund what you are not a part don’t you think?!?

AntiockAkon March 23, 2022 - 12:04 PM - 12:04 PM

Why does the name and picture matter? If it looks and sounds like you Mike then it must be fake news just like your daddy donnie taught you.

Martinezmike March 23, 2022 - 1:15 PM - 1:15 PM

WTF a personal attack against me ? I object.. Only because it’s so poorly done AA . Shirley you can do better. I invite you to sit upon the holy hand grenade of Antioch while ypu contemplate a more sophisticated insult. Meanwhile, I’d like to point out to all, that you are a doo-doo head.

Darwin March 23, 2022 - 2:39 PM - 2:39 PM

@antiockmoron
Why not release name and pic?

SAM March 23, 2022 - 4:47 PM - 4:47 PM

That’s right AA it’s definitely not a white guy.

Bruh March 23, 2022 - 12:04 PM - 12:04 PM

Lol. There must have been a closed door meeting between the police departments and other officials (probably mayors and city councils) to stop releasing names.

They’re clearly in damage control mode because this areas reputation has taken such a massive hit the last few years from their own actions. Letting rioters and looters have free reign to terrorize the population for weeks, not even following public social media posts they used to coordinate their crimes (and such a mystery as to why Twitter and Instagram will ban you for calling a man a man but not if you want to riot, loot, and commit arson), and then being petty and offended when called out over it. And still not having anything under control and why is that? Let’s be honest, there is no police force big enough to stop a population in the millions from committing crimes if enough are committed to it and the DAs around the bay have made it publicly known it’s open season for criminals to get anything they want. And they know the cops are being ordered to just watch and not get involved to avoid another million dollar lawsuit (see donuts in downtown Walnut Creek with cops just sitting watching)

This area is gonna be a ghetto for years to come. Or it may never recover and end up like Detroit.

whome March 23, 2022 - 12:30 PM - 12:30 PM

Wow, that must have been EXPENSIVE!

“The Central County SWAT team has members of the Pleasant Hill, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Martinez, and BART Police Departments and includes a tactical team, tactical medics, K9s, crisis negotiators, tactical dispatchers, and drone operators”

Hondo March 23, 2022 - 1:08 PM - 1:08 PM

Much, much less expensive than paying out a lawsuit to the suspect’s family…or paying out to an injured/dead officer or his/her family…or paying out to an innocent guest or his/her family…or…

And a menace is off the street. For now.

Schmee March 23, 2022 - 2:49 PM - 2:49 PM

I don’t believe they are paid per job lol but I know what you mean

Rico March 23, 2022 - 4:22 PM - 4:22 PM

They must have really wanted this guy. Given that the SF Gang Unit tracked him down and then the local police turned him over to the FBI, I’m guessing this was someone high up in a drug smuggling gang.

Cyn March 23, 2022 - 9:35 PM - 9:35 PM

@Rico
Was thinking the same thing. SF Gang Unit tracked him. They definitely wanted him for probably more than what is written.

Chris March 23, 2022 - 12:57 PM - 12:57 PM

It would be nice if we kept these clowns 🤡in jail so we do not have to use the extra resources to bring them back repeatedly to jail.

Original G March 23, 2022 - 1:08 PM - 1:08 PM

Arrest warrants for multiple firearms violations AND parole violation.
Newest constant for criminals in CA, on probation or parole.

DEM politicians complain about inequity of state prison population and cost per year to house (keep us safe from) those who would be predacious upon society. Shouldn’t they be concerned about protecting society.

“The Central County SWAT team has members of the Pleasant Hill, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Martinez, and BART Police Departments and includes a tactical team, tactical medics, K9s, crisis negotiators, tactical dispatchers, and drone operators.”

What was cost to apprehend these individuals and how does current liberal political attitude towards criminality, keep us SAFE or save money ?????

WC---Creeker March 23, 2022 - 1:34 PM - 1:34 PM

Seeing that SWAT vehicle makes me feel safe. Thanks PDs.

Lazy K March 23, 2022 - 1:57 PM - 1:57 PM

I feel safe knowing that if an officer, firefighter or EMS were wounded they could use that vehicle to extricate them.
Many complain about these vehicles but they are needed to get the wounded out asap.

Phil March 23, 2022 - 4:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Armed resistance would have been appreciated. End of problem.

Dr Jellyfinger March 24, 2022 - 7:57 AM - 7:57 AM

The last thing you need is an armored Humvee coming into a neighborhood. It’s like the military invading. They don’t know anybody. They become the enemy.

Janus March 24, 2022 - 1:15 PM - 1:15 PM

Says the anonymous guy not going in to harms way but feel the need to tell those who do how they should go about it.

Antler March 24, 2022 - 9:11 AM - 9:11 AM

These vehicles are especially useful during responses to bomb threats (whether unidentified packages found…. or threats that a suicidal person is going to set one off) and in hostage situations. They advise the general neighborhood only that “something serious is going down… take shelter”, and their appearance in a civilian setting is no more militaristic than is the effective use of helicopter surveillance/guidance.
(Why do I think you were playing “Devil’s Advocate” with such a comment, Dr. Jellyfinger?)

Katie March 25, 2022 - 1:17 AM - 1:17 AM

I was so impressed As I sat in the parking lot when the swat team pulled through. Very stealthy and after reading this article I am extremely impressed. What a crew! Good job ladies and gentlemen!
