Contra Costa County COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to drop as health officials brace for the coming flu season.

County health officials told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday that statistics involving coronavirus is trending in the right direction, which is a positive development since winter and flu season is almost upon us.

“The good news is COVID transmission is declining right now in our county, according to our data,” said Dr. Sofe’ Mekuria, the county’s deputy health officer. “The 14-day average hospitalization rate is 43 and decreasing. Our positive (test) rate is holding steady at 5.2 percent.”

According to the health department’s website, the amount of the virus found in county wastewater is also decreasing.

She also pointed out Australia’s flu season, which concludes this month and is usually an accurate predictor of what will happen in the U.S., was the worst the country has seen in five years.

OMG, OMG, OMG, we’re all gonna die!

Oh, wait! It’s not that kind of news release. LOL

I can’t help but wonder who the poor soul is who has to test the waste water?

That’s gotta be the worst job in the county.

Exept for whoever has to clean up after Karen.

Positive news the first few paragraphs then they need to spoil the good news with, She also pointed out Australia’s flu season, which concludes this month and is usually an accurate predictor of what will happen in the U.S., was the worst the country has seen in five years

Well, they haven’t had flu for the past 2+ years due to COVID, so how’s that affect “the worst the country has seen in five years?”

Bob October 11, 2022 - 6:05 PM - 6:05 PM

Nope.

Just nope

SAM October 11, 2022 - 6:21 PM - 6:21 PM

I told you it was a hoax. Love still seeing people in masks though. It reminds me of how dumb people in general are. If you fell for any of this at any time, you shouldn’t reproduce.

James October 11, 2022 - 8:58 PM - 8:58 PM

I’ve noticed the only ones still wearing masks are the very young (under 20) and those openly displaying alternative lifestyles or mental illness.

Fred October 11, 2022 - 7:05 PM - 7:05 PM

To call covid a hoax is disrespectful to the million who died in the USA only. And it’s not over. An example is the number of people who are reporting they can’t smell their candles. https://news.northeastern.edu/2022/06/10/yankee-candle-reviews-and-covid-19-trends/

James October 11, 2022 - 9:04 PM - 9:04 PM

The pandemic was and is those that got the shot and what is coming for them and only them..
The “pandemic” was completely misrepresented.Plandemic .
If I could only say to these people ‘nice knowing you” but they have made life a living hell for miillions.
I could think of a few other parting words though.

America October 12, 2022 - 10:06 AM - 10:06 AM

Too bad they can’t smell the candle scents anymore. But good they can’t smell farts through masks.

SAM October 11, 2022 - 8:32 PM - 8:32 PM

Posted like a true asymptomatic super spreader. 🤣🤣🤡 Make sure and wear your mask and gloves. We don’t need you spreading your coof around. You just never know when someone is contagious…right?

bendavis801 October 11, 2022 - 8:46 PM - 8:46 PM

I was only dumb enough to get the first shot before I woke up. Biggest lie ever.

Itsme October 12, 2022 - 3:59 PM - 3:59 PM

Bendavis801….welcome to the Woke club! It took you a while 🤣

More people died of covid in Biden’s first year and did under Trump. Yet Biden criticized Trump’s record and said that he was going to do much better. He failed! As he has failed on everything else.
.

Badge1104 thanks for the comic relief!😄

Two years ago, a 5.2% positivity rate would have caused us to shut down everything except essential businesses.

James October 11, 2022 - 10:22 PM - 10:22 PM

This where being unpolular politically changes science, facts, and responses. What ever happened to gloves? It just was too much, even for them, and their people threw them everywhere, lust like they do with masks,Burger king and Mcd’s.
Liberals that I see are a mess. And they don’t care, thier whole goal is too make the USA into a low standand, anything goes, anyone can show up from anywhere at anytime country. The want an easy life doing nothing but need to wipe out those that make them look like the leeches they are. Then you can’t compare anyone to anyone when everyone is a 2.To live and survive in the USA is just too hard for the low info ,low intelligence,so make it into something they can ;live with.it’s an awful goal. But to not change the world for them would be racist.

nytemuvr October 12, 2022 - 12:05 AM - 12:05 AM

I’m still in the Control group, no jabs, didn’t have it, same with flu shots, never had one and don’t remember the last time I had the flu. Wash your hands whenever you come in the house like I was taught growing up.

Captain Bebops October 12, 2022 - 9:20 AM - 9:20 AM

If there was anything positive at all about the pandemic is that it made the public more aware of personal health and how to maintain it especially if they were skeptical about the lockdowns, mandates, death rate and vaccines. What did the “authorities” expect after years and years of articles, podcasts and videos about maintaining perfect health? Of course there would be a large number of people who didn’t even have a sniffle during the pandemic. The pandemic computer models apparently left out a few things. 🎃

Ricardoh October 12, 2022 - 2:47 PM - 2:47 PM

16 people in CCC died of covid in Sept. I thought they had a cure. Be interesting to know their previous condition and age.

Itsme October 12, 2022 - 4:06 PM - 4:06 PM

Ricardoh, don’t know where you’re getting your news but no one has ever said there was a cure for Covid except maybe Trump when he was miraculously “cured” lol

SAM October 12, 2022 - 7:29 PM - 7:29 PM

There will never be a cure for something that doesn’t exist. Saying people died from COVID HOAX is playing a game that smart people would never even play. It was a HOAX from day one. Nobody died from COVID HOAX. Not one person died from any new virus. It’s the same world we have always lived in. Just idiots believing stupid things, and following stupid people this whole time. I don’t know anyone who got the jab or wore the mask who is proud of who they found out they are. Bunch of gullible followers who feel 2 inches tall. The unvaccinated will inherit the planet as we argue, and I’m loving every minute of it.
