National Weather Service Says Next Big Storm To Hit Bay Area On Wednesday

The National Weather Service said Sunday night that another atmospheric river will hit the Bay Area on Wednesday and Thursday.

Light rain is forecasted for Monday and Tuesday, mostly in the North Bay.

But the NWS says the later storm will likely be as powerful, or more so, than the last weekend storm that caused widespread flooding and damage.

The NWS says to expect similar impacts. Soil will remain saturated to near saturated, meaning a higher risk of flooding and shallow mudslides.

The Bay Area can expect rapid rises in creeks and streams as well as “main stem” rivers that may approach or reach flood stage.

Strong wings with gusts of 35 to 55 miles per hour, with stronger gusts in the mountains, could lead to downed trees and power lines.

Rain is expected to continue throughout the weekend.

Does anyone remember Contra Costa County flooding over the last 50 years? What was the worst flooding you have seen in this area?

.
It’s all about the same as last time.
.
The only difference is that the media is now blowing the weather and climate severity out of proportion.

Late 1981 had huge mudslides that wiped out major gas lines, small bridges, and uprooted trees.
I lived at Pleasant Hill-Martinez border off Morello. We had almost 12″ of rain in one or two days! I tried to commute to Richmond but all roads in Richmond were flooded near US80. PG&E crews were busy for over a month trying to repair gas and electric services. Also 1986-87(?) living in Tice Valley near Tice Creek saw huge flooding and I had 2′ of water under my house after Creek flooded and washed out small bridges off of Meadow and Tice Valley Rds.

Just watch all the water runoff into the Delta and ocean. Open the Dams. Release more water. Raise my water rates!
