Pleasant Hill Police are investigating two shoplifting incidents that occurred within minutes of each other on Monday night.

The first occurred at about 6:40 p.m. when a black female adult in her 20s with a gray beanie, black jacket and white shoes sprinted out of Dick’s Sporting Goods with hundreds of dollars worth of Nike clothing.

The second theft occurred about 10 minutes later, when a white male adult and a white female adult fled Kohl’s with several hundred dollars worth of merchandise. The male suspect had a heavy coat with a fur hood. They both tried fighting with security on the way out of the store, and eventually left in a gray Toyota Corolla.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pleasant Hill Police.

All are high value targets. This is why concealed carry permits for honest citizens is imperative.

Very true. The only incident a firearm defense would be appropriate for is a deadly threat- Armed robbery or a public mass shooting. Shoplifting is not a deadly threat.

Not rape? Not assault/battery? You have a very narrow definition of self defense.

Shoplifting is NOT a victimless crime: prices go up, quality-of-life goes down, criminal acts beget other criminal acts, businesses leave, etc.

I hate to say but the shoplifting pandemic that we have is not due to the shoplifters themselves that’s due to the government raising the prices and causing our recession is costing so much to live anymore that some people are left with no choice but to do this. There are two sides every story and if you’re looking at just the bad side you can’t see the other side that’s kind of suffering from all the things that are going on. It’s now $6 almost $7 a gallon for a gallon of milk, there’s got to be a cap somewhere because it’s just going to keep going up and up and up and it’s not just due to shoplifters it’s due to the recession and the government and the IRS and what not the poor getting poorer and the rich are getting richer it seems it seems like a tragedy and it seems like an easy way out to blame the shoplifters for making things go up. But then again the government says why not it’s easier to blame somebody else than us it’s not us we’re making money we’re doing this we’re doing that so we’ll just blame the poor people well it’s not always just the poor people I understand that gang members and hoodlums and things like that so don’t get me wrong but.

I never realized Dick’s and Kohls sell milk.

You can thank the hoodlum in chief, Joe Biden for purposefully inducing inflation.

Oh, please January 11, 2023 - 8:33 PM - 8:33 PM

Ick. Your thought process is impaired. This is horrid. There is ALWAYS a choice and so many money-wasting agencies to “help” these entitled people. And, jobs to get. Sorry but NO. These people are in this position because of THEIR choices. People have so many other choices they can make before it gets to thinking that stealing is the right thing to do. It is NEVER the right thing todo. People just don’t want to sacrifice their wants for their needs.

Every time I’ve shopped those stores I feel like I’ve been robbed.

So shoplifting, two smash and grabs in Lamorinda, and Mike’s Camera in PH robbed all on the same day. It’s a matter of time until a bystander is seriously injured or killed in the course of one of these robberies. I wonder if people will get angry enough to vote in people who care.

For a straight up shoplift of less than $950 does DA even bother to look at COP’S paperwork ? ? ? ?

After all this is SOFT ON CRIME California . . . . .

It shocks me that nobody seems to be upset about it anymore either! I guess it’s going to really have to hit people hard in the pocketbook, and people personally are going to have to be severely victimized before they wake up to want to vote differently. Right now people just shrug their shoulders as the criminals get more and more emboldened!

Proposition 47, pushed by its supporters as the ‘Safe Neighborhoods and Schools act’ is really working out well.

It’s ok, making things equitable is what people seem to what. Some people have the means to pay for things some don’t so let them steal things. Equity achieved? Guess we’ll need to ask an expert in the equity and inclusion department of Contra Costa County.

The irony to your statement is that those who steal have much nicer things than I can afford to buy. Now who is disadvantaged?

nytemuvr January 11, 2023 - 2:54 PM - 2:54 PM

@WC—CREEKER….Maybe someone could ask them about the people doing these robberies, they are overwhelmingly the 13%s.

The Fearless Spectator January 11, 2023 - 6:41 PM - 6:41 PM

The whole equity concept is based on the premise that: Rather than teach a horse to race, throw a 250 pound jockey on those that already know how to race.

The Mamba January 11, 2023 - 12:40 PM - 12:40 PM

I feel like shoplifters target Dick’s often, that’s unfortunate.

Schmee January 11, 2023 - 5:50 PM - 5:50 PM

That’s it I’m gonna start stealing again. I was just at the liquor store and the owner said the cops are useless these days for all theft unless THEY catch you in the act. What a stupid world we live in now. My neighbors cars getting broken into, the cops do nothing.
