Concord Man Sentenced To 8 Years In Prison In Connection With 14-Year Old’s Fentanyl Overdose Death

A Concord man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in the overdose death of a 14-year-old girl, U.S. Attorney Stephanie Hinds announced Thursday.

Alejandro Valentino Urias, 22, admitted he supplied a fentanyl-laced counterfeit M30 pill to the 14-year-old, prosecutors said.

Urias pleaded guilty to a single charge of distribution of fentanyl on July 21, 2022, and admitted he sold two light blue counterfeit M30 pills containing fentanyl to a minor teenage girl in the parking lot of a commercial plaza near Concord High School.

The girl then gave one of the pills to a second teenager, who ingested half of the pill and fatally overdosed, prosecutors said.

The victim’s father discovered her the next morning.

Prosecutors said Urias also admitted to selling the counterfeit M30 pills following the victim’s death and four days later sold approximately 150 counterfeit M30 pills to an undercover DEA agent for $950.

Wow, all he got was 8yrs? He freaking murdered a teenager with drugs and he knew what he was doing.
Now I know for sure the fight against this fentanyl is a made up story. They don’t care.

A young girl is dead, and this guy only gets 9 years. The real culprit is Joe Biden, who refuses to acknowledge we have an open border crisis, and that millions of fentanyl pills are entering the country through the southern border. When Marjorie Taylor Green had the gumption to call him a liar, all that fool could do is smile. I don’t know how he can live with himself.

My opinion is that the Marjorie Taylor Green incident was very carefully planned and executed. I’m sure several of his advisors worked on this around a table to maximize impact getting an emotional response to Biden’s outrageous lie that then the Leftist press could spin into out of control and violent Republicans. Worked perfectly, so that explains his smile as well as seamlessly moving on to demand the audience stand up and applaud for how he is going to save Social Security from the evil Republicans. He played them like a fiddle. Well done.

Sorry, but closing the borders will do nothing to solve this issue. The drugs or the dealers don’t need a border crossing to make it into this country. The money to enforce closing borders will only worsen problems like this and other issues. The whole open borders are ruining America is such a joke.

@ DAWG let me assume your assessment to be correct that increase in fentanyl related deaths shows that we have border crisis and that the President is the real culprit. Here is the data for fentanyl related deaths for the time period from 1999 through 2021. The grey line represents primarily fentanyl related deaths. As you can see the graph started to dramatically rise around 2015 and kept going up every year thereafter.
.
So if you’re are correct than we had also an open border crisis during 2017 through 2020 the Trump years?
.
Or you’re falling for MTG’s cheap rhetoric which is simply not supported by the facts.

.
The fentanyl data is in Figure 2 of the report

Look at your own graph. During the Obama years, fentanyl took off. During the Trump years (border security) it slowed it’s trajectory, when Biden took over it increased trajectory.

Can you even read what the graph is telling you? Obama/Biden created the ability for fentanyl to come over the border with impunity. Routes, connections, contacts, schemes, logistics had 4 years to develop best practices for smugglers. Trump/Pence took over and did their best to seal the border without Dem support, the fentanyl problem slowed as shown by the graph. It couldn’t be stopped entirely, the pathway had been developed over the previous 4 years. They did what they could and it shows in the statistics.

Then, Biden/Harris came in and removed all border restrictions. So tell me what the graph does then? Skyrockets and continues to climb. No slowing in sight.

Nice try. (actually a very weak attempt TBH)

So tell me you’re looking at the grey line in Figure 2 of the link I posted? it looks like g about 30,000 deaths in 2017 going up to about 60,000 in 2017. Wow that seems to be relay taking care of the problem.
.
I know it’s hard for MAGA to accept facts

JWB February 10, 2023 - 2:59 PM - 2:59 PM

And BTW if you look at the graph the steepest increase happened from 2019 to 2020. As a matter of fact there is a (probably insignificant) lower increase from 2020 to 2021 (and obviously the data for 2022 and beyond remains to be seen.
.
From the graph, if you want to talk about skyrocketing, that event was from 2019 to 2020, just so much for “it couldn’t be stopped entirely”.
.
But of course I’m not going to kid myself. I know that MAGA will never accept facts. Hey MAGA still thinks that Trump won 2020.

JWB, What does your comment have to do with what’s happening at the border today? The ball is in Biden’s court, and Harris is supposed to be doing her job as border czar. Just so you know, I’m not a big MAGA Trump supporter, but he did a better job at trying to secure the border. I also don’t usually go back and forth with arguments on this site, so I probably won’t respond again on this topic. Have a great weekend.

Because there is no open border and the fentanyl problem has nothing to do with what’s happening at the border. Illicit fentanyl became available in the US around 2014 and ever since has increased. If there is demand suppliers will find ways to get it to their customers. It’s certainly your right to believe that Trump did a better job securing the border, as much as it is my right to believe that this is not the case. I have no desire to change your mind. But I’m too wishing you a great weekend.

Dawg . Give it a rest. Not everything bad in the world is Biden’s fault. Those morons that booed him play right into his hands.

i guess the problem i have with the far right and far left is they are one dimensional and everything is black or white.

I attribute that to poor education and inability to examine a problem from all sides.

Nobody cares. Not our President not local officals.

Ricardoh February 10, 2023 - 1:27 PM - 1:27 PM

Every dealer of fentanyl is a killer and should be given an appropriate sentence for murder whether a body is found or not. There is only one way to stop them and that is to make it not worth the risk. Better yet would be to go after China and the Mexican cartels. Has any US government official even talk to China about this problem. Maybe tell them you send it here and everything we intercept we will distribute in China.

Is the problem that drugs exist? That drugs and made or get into the country?

Or is the problem how we handle mental health? How we handle drug addiction and drug treatment?

Capitalism – If there are consumers of drugs the sellers of drugs will find ways to sell it. We are better off finding ways to treat addiction and mental illness than thinking we can stop drugs from existing. Reduce the demand should be the goal as we will never control the supply.

Only 8 wow. I would give him the death sentence but in California I’m surround by wimps. Give him LIFE! At a minimum. If I was the father I know what I would do in 8 years from now. This is malarkey wow WTF happened to California. He won’t learn his connections will just expand in prison and he will kill again in the future mark my words. This isn’t the only death on this man’s hands I’m sure he caused more deaths that are unknown but he probably sold other people stuff and they died but it wasn’t linked to him. He will sell again and more people will die. I’m not a republican but this crap makes me want to live in a more conservative state.

My heart goes out to the family of this girl. I cannot even begin to imagine the horror of finding my teenage daughter in that manner. Please dear God, bring this family some form of peace.

So the unlicensed contractor (see story on Claycord) received more jail time than this guy?!?

Probably. It’s a strange world democrats have created.

Oh, please February 10, 2023 - 5:08 PM - 5:08 PM

We can also teach our kids to NOT buy drugs. Seriously. Mine are under 11 and I am already telling them that if you buy stuff like this, you never know what is in it. Other people don’t care about your safety, only your money. There is some level of parental responsibility here as well.

This is what the voters wanted. A government (local and federal) that are just as concerned for the perpetrators as their victims. They have rights too.

Good job people.

Democrats say the boarder is not open and unemployment is at an all time low. Yet you can’t afford food and everyday fentanyl deaths are reported. Gaslighting 101.
