Funny thing is when folks are released from the Martinez Jail, they’re handed BART and bus tickets (even if it’s 2 a.m.).

It’s a start – but not even scratching the surface yet…… I’m sure the “revolving door DA” has them out already…. we wouldn’t want to inconvenience them now would we…..

That’s a great strategy, I’m sure 80%+ of fare evaders have an outstanding warrant.

Last Sunday I went to Lafayette station about 9:30 am to take train to SF. A Homeless man on platform was there & he came over to where I was sitting. I moved since he was smoking & started following me. Very few passengers there so I walked to the east end of the platform where there were two men. I saw the white phone to call a station agent. No one ever answered as it rang 30 times. I hung up. What kind of help is that? Just to be clear, when the phone rings, it rings throughout the entire station loudly. So my question is where was the station agent???

You can use the Bart app, phone, ect to call for help; unless it is serious (like a cleaver attack on the Antioch bound train on last Monday), the request for help pretty much enter the black hole cuz Bart wants the train to run on time.

There are weirdos on Bart. Don’t try to be a hero by stopping them or you could be charged with a crime (like the marine vet who killed a guy in nyc subway)

For self defense and instead of a gun or knife, pack a ballpeen hammer with a wrist strap.

Legal.

The “station agent” was busy purchasing more cigs for the scum wandering around the train.
Keep Mace or pepper spray in your hand at all times. Take a self-defense class and a class on how to safely use self-defense sprays. And the very best advice, stay off of BART. It has evolved into housing and transport for criminals.

Bart is trying to up rider share by putting police on multiple trains. Hence why there are more arrests. I will say being a cop from the Bay Area, BART is the transit for criminals to commit their crimes. Any town where Bart is not, is a safer town hence why BART has a huge and much needed hiring incentive and pay. Good luck on BART cuz even armed I won’t take Bart anywhere.
