A 31-year-old man died in a three-car crash Thursday evening on state Highway 4 near Concord, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 5:50 p.m. on eastbound Highway 4 at the interchange with Interstate Highway 680.

A gray Toyota Highlander struck a silver Toyota Camry that hat stopped because of traffic ahead. The Camry was pushed forward into the concrete center divider and also hit a gray Mazda 3, CHP officials said.

The Camry driver was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Contra Costa County coroner’s office has identified him as Pittsburg resident Taylor Bustos.

The driver and passenger in the Highlander reported minor injuries in the collision while the Mazda driver was uninjured, according to the CHP. In situations like these, it’s crucial for those involved to consult experienced car accident lawyers to navigate the legal process and ensure their rights are protected.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the CHP’s Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980 or 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov.

Driving too fast for conditions. That sucks. Just on your way home and some idiot not paying attention ends up killing you.

This is so very sad. So I am assuming the Toyota driver didn’t break at all, and hit him with full force to cause an impact resulting in death. That is a lot of force. Was this another driver on their phone? I see it every single day and it makes me so angry. Again, I said I’m “assuming” I have no idea what happened, other than a lot of force had to propel that car into another car and the median. Someone just minding their own business in traffic lost their life, because of “something”…. hopefully it was truly an accident.

My condolences to the family and friends of this young man. Prayer’s too. 🙏🏻

People are driving like maniacs. I see it every day now.

The other day, a bunch of us were at a stop light, and there was cross traffic, and then for some reason, the cars in front of me decide to drive into oncoming cross traffic, while the light was red. It was absolutely nuts. Luckily there were no accidents, but there could have easily been one.

It’s becoming worse and worse. People are taking chances. And everyone is in a hurry

And you should all think twice before disrespecting other drivers.

CHP needs to monitor highway 4 better. We’ve been seeing nasty crashes there every week or two for a very long time.
