I don’t go to a park very often, but when I do, I will go to Heather Farm, but only on a week day when it’s not too crowded. The people I encounter are usually friendly, and will smile and say hi as we walk past each other. The ducks are fun to watch, especially a family of ducks, with mama duck, daddy duck, and little ducklings swimming around. On the downside, when walking around the pond, we have to watch where we step, too much goose poop.

Aww, I love to watch baby ducks they are so cute. At a small park by the water in Benicia there were geese and goslings are incredible cute when small. If I remember correctly they were yellow and grey, very round looked like tennis balls. Blue Rock Springs Park in Vallejo have all kind of ducks and geese even peacocks, when I lived in Benicia I would often go there, and were lucky enough to see baby peacocks.

@HANNE JEPPESEN…. Blue Rock Springs Park was where the Zodiac Killer shot his second victims if I remember correctly.

I’m very interested in true crime. Ann Rule is one of my favorite authors. I have of course heard and read about the Zodiac killer, but not in details. I do remember that either Benicia and Vallejo was mentioned in connection with the case.

@HANNE JEPPESEN….His first victims were at the end of Lake Herman Rd. Being a teenager without a place to take a girlfriend to “make out”, besides my car, it was a distraction to say the least. A scary time for Bay Area teenagers with raging hormones.

When I was working, I had a patient tell me his aunt was killed by the Zodiac in Blue Rock Springs Park.

The Zodiac killings happened before I moved to the Bay Area. I moved here in 1975.

Years ago I had a girl friend that lived close to Heather Farms so we use to take walks there, Very nice. I use to walk along the canals, I know it is not a park, but they we close to where I lived. My friends that live in Walnut Creek lives by the hills and the Scandinavian Club use to have a hike there in the spring, I think it was called Borges Farm very nice. I have hiked all over the Bay area, Mt.Tam, Point Reyes etc. My favorite is Benicia State Park, it is by the water, you can see Mt. Diablo and if you walk all the way out to the end and go up in the hills you can see the Carquinez bridge.

I still like Heather Farm although it’s becoming more popular with the Pit Bull enthusiasts. In their defense, every time I pass a Pit Bull owner on the back pond trail they start shoveling treats into its mouth as fast as they can so it doesn’t kill me or my dog. I appreciate it.

Diablo State Park – like going to the top for the views

The Fearless Spectator June 28, 2023 - 9:37 AM - 9:37 AM

I was there a week ago and it’s was terrific as usual. The only entrance open right now is from Diablo Rd. A ranger at the top told me there were a significant number of washouts on the Mitchell Canyon entrance so that road will not reopen for quite some time.

Nancy Boyd Park is superb! I took my boys there for playdates. Fire Station right across the street in case anyone broke an arm.

Nancy Boyd is one of those hidden gems you hope stays hidden

Use to go to Nancy Boyd Park as a kid and use to walk there.
We moved to Pleasant Hill, … sure miss the Martinez neighborhood.

Briones … fantastic black bass fishing in the reservoir if you can go stealth mode and avoid the ranger jerks.

Catch & release of course!

Well Folks June 28, 2023 - 8:57 AM - 8:57 AM

When I lived in Martinez I lived down the hill from Rankin Park and it was a nice little place for kids. As an adult I loved the Martinez Marina and the walking paths. On a hot day the bay breeze was refreshing
