Yes this is sad. But it also highlights the type of people we run in to while riding BART these days. A scary assortment to be sure! That’s actually why some of us have reduced our ridership on BART. It seems these people go to Civic Center in San Francisco buy some drugs and then hop back on the BART and ride around. Often without paying. So not only is Bart a rolling homeless shelter, I think it’s a rolling opium den.

I guarantee that neither of these fine citizens paid to ride BART, but rather jumped the fair gates. All the $$ being funneled to BART can’t include to pay a guard at each gate?! And BART wonders why ridership is down.

@BOOYAH
We can have fair gates or guards at every station but that solves nothing, it will be patching up bigger issues. Sure, people who are up to no good may not be able to ride the train but that doesn’t mean that will stop them from committing other crimes, such as, carjacking someone’s car to get to their destination.

Fine citizens? Sounds like people who hate life and want to die. BART is a mess. Progressives destroys cities, a sad fact no one wants to talk about.

I’m not surprised, you’d have to be High to want to ride on BART in the first place.

DEMs,
tell us again how making personal use of illegal drugs a misdemeanor (Prop 47) has benefited California.
$10,306,082 was spent to CON voters into passing Prop 47.
.
Prop 47 was the DEM fix for County Jail overcrowding in al 58 CA counties caused by AB-109 passed in 2011.
.
DEMs stumble along thinking up fixes to remedy their previous gross mistakes and you supply the money they use.
.
By the way how does it feel, being lab rats for DEM politicians and their unelected minions.

And you’re forgetting to tell how Kamala Harris then California’s attorney general, named proposition 47 the “safe neighborhood and schools act’ as it was listed on the voting ballots to trick voters! Talk about lying and false advertising!!! And it did trick most you voters who just blindly followed her.

It feels like we are robbing ourselves when we fail to allow natural consequences to take their course. These “people” will just do this again and they add nothing of value to society. They take, take, take. Allowing natural consequences for their chosen actions will help the most people.

Tim July 3, 2023 - 4:57 PM - 4:57 PM

Wiener’s response is to open “safe” drug sites, but that will only promote a revolving door approach. In-patient drug treatment is a much better alternative, in my opinion. But then I’m not a idiotic politician so what do I know.

We can’t fix the roads but they hand out Narcan to worthless human beings for free. I just witnessed a homeless man pull down his pants and pee on the street with traffic and kids walking by. I asked the business owner why they don’t call the cops she said they won’t do anything.

I expect a well-known civil rights attorney will be on tv tomorrow surrounded by the ”devastated” family members of the deceased. Somehow this will be Barts fault and a hefty settlement will be paid out.

San Fracisco, Khaliphoriya, and the federal leadership should be prosecuted for leadership malpractice.

Two points …

#1 SCOTUS deregulated media ownership limits in the 1980s … I clearly recall this HUGE blunder.

#2 SCOTUS decided about 10 years ago if I recall that corporate funds given to political employees was protected as free speech under 1st Amendment … another HUGE blunder.

Both need immediate reversals if USA will ever have a chance for any form of decent future.

As is … not gonna take much longer for all of this to implode. China is watching folks … closely.

They just jacked up bridge fare to get people to take BART! Bart is getting more subsidies from the government, meaning us taxpayers, as ridership is down. When will Californians wake up? Or should I say liberals.
