Four People Die On Wednesday In Separate Oakland Shootings

A person was fatally shot late Wednesday morning in Oakland, the fourth victim of the day to die in a shooting in the city, police said.

The latest shooting occurred shortly before noon in the 2100 block of 106th Avenue, where officers located the victim.

Two other shootings early Wednesday claimed the lives of three other people.

Officers responded shortly before 1:30 a.m. to the 1100 block of 89th Avenue, where two people died.

Just before 5 a.m., a person was shot and killed in the 1200 block of 18th Avenue. Another person was injured in that shooting.

Police planned to hold a news conference later Wednesday afternoon on the four killings.

The names of the victims who died in the separate shootings are not yet being released, and Oakland police have not announced an arrest in any of the cases.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland police homicide section at (510) 238-3821 or a tip line at (510) 238-7950.

Something is wrong with the community. How do you get the belief that you have the right to take another person’s life. Revenge killing is so bad that they kill each other at funerals. However their prevailing view on crime and justice will only lead to the slaughter continuing.

Grew up in Oakland in the 70s and 80s. Was a paramedic there for over 20 years. Will never set foot there again.
