The following is from the Pleasant Hill Police Department:

Last night patrol officers located a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Crossroads Shopping Center. After a few minutes of surveillance with the help of our Drone Team, two subjects were contacted attempting to leave in the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, a loaded firearm and narcotics were discovered. Ultimately, 54 year old Phillip Wilson of Walnut Creek, was arrested and booked into county jail on numerous firearm and narcotics charges. The stolen vehicle was recovered and will be returned to its owner!

As the summer kicks off in the next couple of weeks, expect to see more active patrols and arrests throughout our local shopping centers!

54 years old, probably not his first arrest. Get him back in jail. More license plate readers everywhere!

What do license plate readers have to do with this? The article says the suspect was located by a patrol.

All the mass surveillance in the world isn’t going to keep these guys in jail. That’s up to local politicians. So why give away your liberties?

YOYOHOP,
.
It was likely a car based license plate reader.
.
I agree with you. We have cameras everywhere, yet crime doesn’t decrease for the most part, so, why live in a mass surveillance state? It’s to track the non-criminal population, not the criminal population

@Saynogo – It was in Pleasant Hill, not Walnut Creek. Plus, you can see that the sign for Dick’s Sporting Goods is reflected off the hood of the car. That’ll give you a clue as to where in the shopping center this happened.

I found it interesting that they used a drone as part of the perimeter.

Way to go Pleasant Hill Police! Big thumbs up to the Drone Team! Keep going guys, build that momentum, get the bad guys off the streets. Now, we need the DA and judges to do their jobs that the citizens want. We can turn things around fairly quickly if everyone does their part including the citizens.
Many Thanks!!!

Need to give the drones a laser guided turret mounted GAU-8 and hope the perps resist harder.

I looked him up and found that he’s out of custody. No charges filed.

I first got his full name from the PHPD arrest log. https://phpd.crimegraphics.com/2013/default.aspx
I then looked up the prisoner status on Vinelink. https://vinelink.vineapps.com/search/CA/Person
