Who remembers Arby’s on Clayton Rd. in Concord? It was built in the late-70s, but didn’t make it through the 80s. Arby’s was located at 4340 Clayton Rd. in Concord, just east of Treat Blvd. During their grand opening in the late-70s, a young Concord resident named Donald Davis won a free roast beef sandwich from Arby’s every day for the rest of his life. Anyone know Donald Davis today? Has he gone to Arby’s every single day since he won the prize in 1978? 🙂 The building is no longer an Arby’s, it has housed New Lim’s Garden (now closed) for the past several decades (see below).

What a joke Arby’s refuses to do business in the SF bay,but they have one in Tracy. This guy had to move just to get free food.
There’s an Arby’s in Cordelia.
whenwilltheylearn,
.
There was an Arby’s in Concord’s Park-n-Shop into the 1990’s, there was also an Arby’s in Vallejo into the 2000s, and there are two Arby’s locations currently in Fairfield.
was was was California WAS a place to live or even vacation.
Why does Arby’s refuse to do business in the SF bay area?
I remember it … it opened when I was a senior in high school. My friends and I ate there every once in a while. I haven’t eaten at another one since then. Although I did like the roast beef and cheddar sandwich.
America’s
Roast
Beef.
Yes
Sir!
I used to like the Arby’s in Park & Shop. It was really disappointing when they closed.
I miss Arby’s….always stop in Cordelia when passing thru, same for Tracy.
If Donald Davis ate at Arby’s every day he would have died a while ago.
I ate their roast beef sandwich once in the seventies. It tasted strange so I open the bread to see flaked roast beef. I didn’t finish the sandwich and I never went back.
I don’t think I ever tried Arby’s… Oh well, there’s something new on the scene now that I don’t think I’ll ever try either, are you ready?
KFC Chicken Flavored toothpaste!
Nope…. not a joke, not April Fools.

No matter what, this guys not getting any free food unless he moves just to be by an Arbys and they are only in ghetto cities. He has to spend lots of gas to get anything”free” or live around undesirables.
If he truly went every day I can’t imagine he lived very long.
Good bet for Arby’s!
