About 25 – 30 infants, minors and adults were hit with pepper spray during a fight at The Jungle in the Willows shopping center on Diamond Blvd. on Saturday night, according to the Concord Police Department.

Just after 7 p.m., police say they were called to The Jungle for a report of a fight involving 5 – 10 males and female juveniles.

All the involved juveniles fled the scene before police arrived, and approximately 25 – 30 customers came out after being exposed to pepper spray, with some vomiting and complaining of difficulty breathing, according to police.

So the juviniles were gone when police arrived, but the police proceeded to blast innocent people with pepper spray anyway?

How is this place still open?! It’s been disgusting for as long as I can remember and so are the people that go there. I’ve never heard anything good about this place. SHUT IT DOWN!!!!!

This place is gross and expensive. I took my two great grandchildren and it smelled like body odor and felt “yucky”. I bought a little 6 oz bottle of orange juice from the vending machine and it was $3. Total rip off. They need to close it down and re do everything inside or just keep it closed. A dead rat?

JZ April 14, 2019 - 4:26 AM - 4:26 AM

And where was Security to help and prevent these issues from arising in the first place??? This would of never happened with the old company they used to have. Their guards were sooo nice and always quick to respond, even for the most minor altercations.
This New Security Company they have now is a joke!!!
Best of luck to the old Security staff hopefully you are appreciated elsewhere as you will be missed.

Ed Stevens April 15, 2019 - 12:20 AM - 12:20 AM

Security is there to observe and report, nothing more.

Really? April 14, 2019 - 4:41 AM - 4:41 AM

Twenty plus years and a knee replacement ago, I used to take my two daughters there. At that time I remember it being a pretty decent place to take your kids for an afternoon or even a birthday party. It seems to have followed along with the general decline of Concord.

Ilovepopcorn April 15, 2019 - 6:37 AM - 6:37 AM

That incident is one of many that occurs there. That is too bad. Why do they allow older kids in there? I thought it was for younger children.
Terrible behavior in front of babies, and young customers. They will have to implement new policies I hope.

Lol April 14, 2019 - 7:13 AM - 7:13 AM

More “adults” being “adults

Gem. April 14, 2019 - 9:36 AM - 9:36 AM

So you did not read… It said juveniles started a fight inside and left before police arrived. Then the adults with smaller childern were the ones suffering from some dumbass who used pepper spray. I say dumbass because it does not say police were the ones who used it.

Turn n Burn April 14, 2019 - 7:38 AM - 7:38 AM

Great comment Pollyanna. It was a waste of time. Apparently none of them wanted medical help as far as going to the hospital. They didn’t want to snitch on one another. So, I say leave them alone, and let them figure out there own dysfunctionality. Stop wasting OUR Officers time. And this is why people complain about lack of police service or time. Because the police have to deal with crap like this. They spend hours trying to figure out what happened, only to find out nobody wants to press charges. Crap like this takes time away for REAL problems.

A school parent April 14, 2019 - 8:40 AM - 8:40 AM

We must not have read the same article. Juveniles were fighting and spraying pepper spray … victims were customers ….

And what do you expect the hospital to do? EMS can treat pepper spray in the field and there is NOTHING a hospital can or would do differently for a pepper spray incident.

I think your pessimistic attitude is clouding your judgement on what happened. Yeah, security should step in, yeah the place is a dump, but saying that the customers were involved …. no.

Jeff April 14, 2019 - 8:27 AM - 8:27 AM

The Jungle used to be a great place for little kids. Of course it should be shutting down about 8, the little kids need their sleep. Concord….Bwahahaaha…………full of idiots…..lucky to have 108RS in their town on occasion…………..108RS.

Paul April 14, 2019 - 11:28 AM - 11:28 AM

Juveniles (like teenagers?) at the Jungle? Did they bring their kids and grandkids? If not, the Jungle staff had no business allowing them in without adult supervision. It is not a business where one would expect “juveniles” to “play”.

Anon April 14, 2019 - 11:39 AM - 11:39 AM

Surely, ‘The Jungle’ will follow BARTS example in Not releasing any security footage so not to “reinforce any negative stereotypes”. Such Hypocrisy.

Cowellian April 14, 2019 - 12:01 PM - 12:01 PM

You took your kitchen there? No wonder you don’t want to go back!

I remember taking my son and his friends there back in the day…and even having birthday parties there. Too bad that the riff-reff are allowed to ruin things for everyone else. And of course, no description available.

This is not the first time they have had to call the cops for fights. Dont understand what goes on in that place.

Oh, please April 14, 2019 - 7:39 PM - 7:39 PM

Easy. Its only or a certain segment of the population now. The same segment that starts fights in Walmart during Black Friday and the same ones who start fights in Chinese buffets for crab legs.

Bedazzled, if you really are driving at 65 and in and out of lanes and on your phone typing, you have no business being on the road.

Philbert, its the “adults”..who was it before all the mayhem? It was people obviously. It was kids playing at the jungle being kids. Now it’s trashy filthy “adults” playing real life GTA

Calendar Girl April 15, 2019 - 8:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Twenty years ago, I spotted a guy working there who’d been caught in the ladies’ bathroom at Cost Plus (by me) when I’d worked there. I called The Jungle and asked if they did background checks on their employees and they said, “No.”
Great! So what kind of people are they trusting to interact with our children?

James April 15, 2019 - 12:16 PM - 12:16 PM

Its hilarious that some of you are surprised, I have driven by and seen the people going in and coming out. That’s all I needed to know not to take my children there.
