One less rat in the neighborhood. But what are those two lights looking back, is that another animal?

iKrissy June 29, 2019 - 4:40 PM - 4:40 PM

@Mike – Looks like ordinary car headlights to me.

Dorothy June 29, 2019 - 5:20 PM - 5:20 PM

Good for Bob the cat, may he eat hearty and often.

Kath June 29, 2019 - 8:13 PM - 8:13 PM

It’s a house in the background.
Nobody uses poison around here. Last night Bobbi cat caught a squirrel.

Silva June 29, 2019 - 9:14 PM - 9:14 PM

Good on all of you for not using poisons!! Bobbi cat’s so pretty. Thank you for sharing with us.

Sushi Rat June 29, 2019 - 8:48 PM - 8:48 PM

So Ozora Sushi just needs to get a pet bobcat. Problem solved!

WCreeker June 29, 2019 - 9:21 PM - 9:21 PM

Good kitty.

AJ BUTTACAVOLI June 30, 2019 - 5:27 AM - 5:27 AM

Excuse me, but is that a human residence the animal is leaving? Oh wonderful, just what we need, vicious wild animals searching for food in our yards? And no one here seems concerned?

ZZ June 30, 2019 - 7:26 AM - 7:26 AM

That’s because they are NOT vicious animals. They are typically shy and avoid humans. They are nocturnal and hunt small animals. No need to worry about the bobcat.

Gittyup June 30, 2019 - 8:19 AM - 8:19 AM

@Buttacavoli They were here first. Bobcats are not vicious animals. It is merely hunting dinner. If you have a cat or small dog, however, you might want to bring them in at night. They are illusive because they are more afraid of you than you are of them.

Bobbi Cat visited in the afternoon. She was watching something from the fence. As soon as my 9 month old Chinese Crested, all of 9 lbs went outside, she fled. I don’t let my toy dogs romp in the yard when I’m not home but can when I’m home and not preoccupied.. It’s part of country living and next to open space, Mother Nature’s backyard. I originally put the camera up to see if coyotes were coming close. Haven’t seen one yet. Capturing Bobbi cat has been a highlight. She’s beautiful and glad she’s catching rodents, there’s chickens nearby.

@ Gittyup ~ I did learn how to spell “elusive” in the 5th grade…
so that’s one gold star for me.

Illusive is a real word but it means dreamlike or not based in reality.

It’s kind of ironic that I should be the one to provide that definition….
but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Gittyup June 30, 2019 - 1:46 PM - 1:46 PM

@Jellyfinger You are quite right and so astute of you to point that out. I stand corrected. Obviously, I’m not intelligent enough to comment on anything here, so I won’t. I’ll spend my time at something I’m better at that tapping keys on my cellphone.

“It’s kind of ironic that I should be the one to provide that definition….
but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.” And, why is that?

I like to say its been fun, but I’d be lying.

Gittyup, you and I don’t see eye to eye on much best as I can tell, but when you defend nature and remind people to tread lightly, as I’ve seen you do a few times on these boards… it warms my heart is all I’ll say. Good on ya brother.

ClaytonMom June 30, 2019 - 9:50 AM - 9:50 AM

Good Kitty!!!!

Mary Fouts June 30, 2019 - 9:54 AM - 9:54 AM

Wildlife is all around us. It’s been a while, but I’ve seen coyotes walk down the lane in front of my home in south PH. I’ve also seen coyotes in the Creek area behind the playing field at PHE, and near the intersection of the EBMUD trail/creek area and Sunnyvale.

On Friday June 14th my wife and I came home about 10 PM and saw a young mountain lion run down our street. We weren’t sure at first but it definitely wasn’t a bobcat because it had a long tail and no spots. We live along El Molino Drive in Clayton.

Jackie June 30, 2019 - 11:38 AM - 11:38 AM

@Kath – Thanks for sharing the video! It’s inspiring me to set up a camera in my back yard. In the last 2-3 months, we’ve seen deer multiple times, including two handsome bucks and a pair of coyotes within 20-30 feet of our backyard fence. I can’t let our 12 lb fluff ball (who thinks he’s a big guard dog) out for a midnight pit stop until I sweep the yard and beyond the wire fence with a bright flashlight first. He’s already had a handful of nose-to-nose encounters with a skunk. Thank goodness the skunk never sprayed him. I would like to know if the mountain lion spotted a mile from our house ever cruises past.

Mary Fouts June 30, 2019 - 2:28 PM - 2:28 PM

Kath – Thank you for respecting Mother Nature and taking steps to live in harmony with Her and Her critters/wildlife. Many people would be complaining. Your attitude shows there there many thoughtful and caring people in Claycord land!

Chester E. Kitty June 30, 2019 - 3:40 PM - 3:40 PM

Awesome shot! Thanks for sharing.

Silva July 1, 2019 - 8:24 AM - 8:24 AM

A friend in a half asleep state once petted the local bobcat. She was at a large gathering on a friend’s property sleeping outdoors in a tent. She’d been warned not to keep any food inside her tent because “Bob” was a bit on the bold side for a bobcat, but she had not heeded the warning. Bob went inside the open door and was sniffing around, and she, thinking he was someone’s domestic cat, was petting him. She’d just become aware of what a solid and well muscled kitty he was, even began feeling the girth of his legs in the darkness before he beat feet.

Pony July 2, 2019 - 5:45 PM - 5:45 PM

Maybe Bobbi Cat needs to rent himself out to local restaurants overnight.
