Pleasant Hill Police have announced the arrest of a suspect who they say was involved in a 2004 murder on Golf Club Rd.

In May 2004, Michael Merlin Fidler was shot and killed in his apartment on Golf Club Rd. during a home invasion robbery over marijuana, according to police.

The case went unsolved until April 2008, when police say Tyson Moorehead, and his accomplice Kenneth York, were identified as suspects.

York was arrested in August 2008, and later convicted of homicide. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He had been housed in the California State Prison facilities, but is presently in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility awaiting a new trial after successfully appealing his 2010 conviction.

A cold case investigation led to the arrest of Moorehead on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Until this time he had successfully avoided apprehension for this crime, according to police.

Moorehead was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and has been charged with homicide and robbery.

Eye for an eye for this POS. Lets see how tough he really is…

The real tragedy is the victim’s family had to wait four years for York to be arrested. York went about his day to day business like nothing happened for four years while the victim’s family had to deal with the unsolved murder of their son. Hope both York and Moorhead pay for this crime with life in prison.

For getting caught.

Anyone convicted of murder deserves life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. NO exceptions.

Glad they are both behind bars. Is it a college roommate reunion or what?

Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Its 15 years later and I do not know the circumstances of what happened. I reserve judgment.

Concordian November 14, 2019 - 10:03 PM - 10:03 PM

A murder happened. A judgement has already been delivered on the case. LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE. 15 years this murderer has been free is 15 years Michael has been shot dead and taken from his family because he was defending his life in his own home. Where is the reservation?

Some people want weed so badly they will kill for it. It has always been that way. Great work tracking this guy down and arresting him. Thank you, Pleasant Hill Police.

Imagine being locked up for years for something you didn’t do. Set up because the real killer could not be found.

Cowellian November 14, 2019 - 8:15 AM - 8:15 AM

It doesn’t appear that anyone was locked up for something they didn’t do.

Concordian November 14, 2019 - 3:56 PM - 3:56 PM

Read the court documents for the first trial. They are public. Kenny York was certainly the mastermind behind the robbery that lead to Michael’s murder. Kenny’s family were successful to cover it up as long as they did. Time for justice to be fully served.

This is a little confusing, he was arrested and convicted of another murder? Also, the last two killings in Pleasant Hill have been Marijuana related? What a shame.

Your reading comprehension skills are way off.

There was only 1 murder by 2 suspects.
1 suspect was convicted & sentenced to prison but he appealed his conviction & is being given a new trial.

The 2nd suspect was just arrested a few days ago.

Mika November 17, 2019 - 12:37 PM - 12:37 PM

JUSTICE FOR MICHAEL FIDLER!
