At least in the central county area, major brand regular gas is available from some stations for less than $4 a gallon. This is with a credit card and no need to buy a car wash. Prices took a noticeable drop last week. Check http://www.gasbuddy.com for local gas prices.

Really? I see lots of stations in CCC under $3.80.

Just buy an electric vehicle – there are plenty to choose from. My car doesn’t need gas, tuneups, oil changes, etc. And I just plug it in and it charges at a fraction of the cost of filling up with gas. With the money, I am not spending on gas and maintenance the monthly payment is less than a gas car would be of comparable features and performance.

My favorite bumper sticker was on the back of a Nissan Leaf. It stated, “Powered by clean burning coal, liberated neutrons, feathers of incinerated song bird and wing of eagle.” One more little problem with electric vehicles is the dependence upon rare earth magnets in the motors. The mining and refining of Samarium leaves behind some nasty radioactive mine tailings and refinery slag. But, as long as the radioactive refuse only pollutes main land China, it is not really our concern.

And when the battery needs replacing what you saved in fuel will be lost. When the stator burns out you will need a new drive motor. I guess if you sold it before these parts are needed you may come out even, but again we have depreciation.

I don’t think people realize that an e car is not an option for everyone. Apartment dwellers have no place to charge a vehicle, so it wouldn’t be a viable choice.Unless you live in a house where you have an outlet available, it isn’t possible to charge your vehicle all the time.

What do you do if you run out of juice at Lost Hills on your way to LA?

Have always wondered but never checked, how is resale value on a electric vehicles and how much does it cost out the door to have a dealer replace the rechargeable batteries ? ? ?

Just two days ago I was forced to pay $2.56/gallon for alcohol free regular down here in Georgia. Why alcohol free, because my 2011 Toyota Corolla gets about 8% better fuel mileage when it is running on sober. Emissions stay the same, plus with the better mileage that means my car is putting out less pollution per gallon of fuel.

Thank you, Timothy Grayson, for being one of the hold-out votes deciding in favor of our increased gas and vehicle registration taxes. Without your vote, California would not be leading the nation (in high taxes).

But we do have vastly improved roads along with faster response times from our first responders

Price of gas at Costco Concord is $3.59

Bill Cutting November 20, 2019 - 11:50 AM - 11:50 AM

Lazy K is that satire lol . Concords roads are horrible drive from Ygnacio to Ayres Road that is some of the choppiest uneven pavement I’ve ever rode on. Highway 24 has sections where your car does mini jumps because that freeway is crumbling they put up all these fancy tolls which caused traffic. Going to the city is like standing in line at Disneyland. Overall I would rate the roads here as a 5.5 out of 10. They can’t keep up with the overexpansion And exploitation of our legal immigration system (hart cellar act 1965). The gas price is pretty much directly linked with population because that’s supply and demand so if you want lower gas stop having people come here which won’t happen because the greedy people that run this place want more people to drive labor costs down like Benjamin Franklin said in his day common sense isn’t so common

Kirkwood November 20, 2019 - 12:28 PM - 12:28 PM

Rob – I did find a charging station in Buttonwillow, about 20 miles south of Lost Hills.

WC November 21, 2019 - 9:14 AM - 9:14 AM

Harris Ranch has Tesla Chargers.

Bill Cutting November 20, 2019 - 1:50 PM - 1:50 PM

Demographics is destiny Sam that’s how the liberals achieved this thru legal/illegal but it’s really the legal immigration that’s the issue. When 90% of new legal immigrants are voting left you need to put a moratorium on immigration. We can’t have people coming here that support just one party. Mix in the fact that contemporary conservatives are pretty much liberals 20 years ago we have been sold out. The Christian core principles of our country Are marginalized. the corporations want to make global money. they don’t care about you and the corporations keep your representatives living nice and cozy and they (our sell out political parties both of them….What have conservatives conserved for the last 80 years?) do what their masters tell them

Chuckie the Troll November 20, 2019 - 3:58 PM - 3:58 PM

Gas is a buck or more cheaper in most states due to our insane gas formula flip-flop which happens twice a year, our insanely onerous regulations, and highest-in-the-nation gas taxes. And that High Speed Rail (to nowhere) aint getting no cheaper, either.
