Does this mean it’s slowing down? Small increase.

RIP to all who have passed and are suffering from illness. My thoughts are with their loved ones as well.

So the number of people tested COULD be equal to the number of people that tested positive. Probably not, but without that context it is difficult to create information from that data.

Interesting stat .As of yesterday France had more deaths then the US.

our privatized healthcare system has put us at an advantage. We have more space, better equipment, and better paid/less burnt out workers heading into this. If we can continue to hold the line like we are currently this will be a good test of the US healthcare system in general.

curious March 29, 2020 - 9:51 PM - 9:51 PM

next year the private health-care system is going to double the rate for insurance to compensate themselves for the free tax payers money bailout they earned to care for the sick and dying of coronavirus/19. the year after they will double it again to set money aside for the next big pandemic bailout. if we survive this one. at the same time they will tell us about how social programs do not work outside the realm of corporate bailout systems. despite evidence americans will continue to vote against their own good.

I can’t speak of what will happen in the future, simply, it was advantageous for us to not be on a single payer/ universal coverage model going into this. We have bigger more spacious hospitals, and better paid healthcare workers… we’re going to have a lot more deaths but our deaths as a percentage of total infected will be pretty low. US has always had decently good survival rate of people admitted into critical care units overall.

Sweden, the model we hold in such high esteem, is already putting out guidelines of who gets care and who doesn’t… and they haven’t really been hit yet.

Glad to see that social distancing appears to be for the most part working here. Unlike in Louisiana… https://www.sfgate.com/news/medical/article/Hundreds-at-church-flout-COVID-19-gatherings-ban-15164855.php

In Central Contra Costa County there are 20+ falls of the elderly per day which requires Ambulance.
These can sometimes lead to death.

DR. FAUCI: The worst-case scenario for the US is 200,000 fatalities.

MEDIA: Dr. Fauci says 200,000 US fatalities expected.

One might prepare for and expect the worst-case scenario when making plans and allocating critical resources.

JWB March 30, 2020 - 11:20 AM - 11:20 AM

actually the worst case scenario is 1.6 to 2.2 million deaths for the US and the best case scenario is up to 200,000.

I wonder how that compares with a year ago at this time with the regular flu season?

Puffandstuff March 29, 2020 - 4:45 PM - 4:45 PM

So basically the health department doesn’t release to us any useful information that may help us not feel so lost and panicked. Thanks

Concerned March 29, 2020 - 5:12 PM - 5:12 PM

The deaths are coming. I think this coming week we’ll see the numbers of new cases and deaths jump dramatically.

Aunt Barbara March 29, 2020 - 11:03 PM - 11:03 PM

because people are still walking on top of each other, touching everything and their faces, sneezing and coughing into the air,( not their inner elbow) and not washing their hands OFTEN ENOUGH..
Trump thought people were smarter than they are WHEN HE MADE THE ORIGINAL TIMELINE….sad world

nytemuvr March 29, 2020 - 11:18 PM - 11:18 PM

@Aunt Barbara… And those damn leaf blower guys blowing the virus everywhere!

George March 29, 2020 - 5:22 PM - 5:22 PM

Only seven more cases than yesterday! This could be good news. Over the past week we have seen anywhere from 15 to 23 new cases each day

Blueberry March 29, 2020 - 7:10 PM - 7:10 PM

If you, or someone you love, smokes cigs, pot, or vapes, stop now! They all lead to lung inflammation and reduced immune system, which puts even young people at risk for serious problems from Coronavirus.

Ilovepopcorn March 29, 2020 - 9:45 PM - 9:45 PM

I never thought of that. Good information. Thank you. I hope someone who smokes or vapes will read your comments. Very true. Scary.

Wait a minute March 29, 2020 - 10:27 PM - 10:27 PM

Don’t you mean they put all people at risk *in general*, both the smokers and whoever is around them too? This virus can exacerbate inflammatory response, but people should quit just because that sh** is deadly anyway.

Julie March 29, 2020 - 8:18 PM - 8:18 PM

We really don’t know..CDC sais differently..pls don’t let your guard down!

Ricardoh March 30, 2020 - 10:08 AM - 10:08 AM

After President Trump has been panned by the media for boosting hydroxychloroquine we now know doctors are taking it to keep from getting the virus and the FDA just approved it as a treatment. Doctors are saying it gets patients off of ventilators in two days. Somehow the left wing press will blame the president for something about the drug. Hang on it is coming.
