Good and thank you for doing a great job

Original G March 29, 2020 - 10:31 AM - 10:31 AM

Additional from Costco website,
“… Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, Costco warehouses will open from 8 to 9 a.m. for members ages 60 and older…”

Gittyup March 29, 2020 - 11:59 AM - 11:59 AM

Like anybody who is retired wants to get up at the crack of dawn for competitive shopping.

Justifiable languor March 29, 2020 - 12:51 PM - 12:51 PM

I normally don’t have a problem getting up. Lately with all the gloom and cold, I stay in bed reading the news. Between 7 and 8 I can’t stand it anymore. Nevertheless, I miss my window for shopping. 😋

Anonamel March 29, 2020 - 1:15 PM - 1:15 PM

Most older folks are out late morning and early afternoon. Makes me wonder exactly who rises when the rooster crows to clear out stores of spaghetti sauce.

ConcordRez March 29, 2020 - 3:38 PM - 3:38 PM

I’m a senior. I think the stores know that MOST of their senior customers don’t sleep late. Older adults are more likely to experience two circadian rhythm sleep disorders: advanced sleep phase syndrome (ASPS) and irregular sleep-wake rhythm. Each of these may cause early morning awakenings. ASPS is characterized by a desire to fall asleep and wake early.Oct 10, 2019

Before I drag myself out of bed at the crack of seven for early-bird shopping, I’d like to know if they actually restocked the shelves overnight.

H8 Bart March 29, 2020 - 6:22 PM - 6:22 PM

Great. I have never been a morning person and for years I begrudgingly got up before dawn. First for the big yellow bus, and then for many years serving corporate America. And now apparently I’m getting up for toilet paper?

mev March 29, 2020 - 11:10 AM - 11:10 AM

great, make shopping more miserable and difficult than it already has become.

JJ March 29, 2020 - 11:24 AM - 11:24 AM

There are other stores open later than Costco.

Again, what is this addiction to Costco?

Realist March 29, 2020 - 12:22 PM - 12:22 PM

It could be so they actually have time to restock fully, or give them a much needed breather. The crowds are rude and overwhelming.

Hanne Jeppesen March 29, 2020 - 1:44 PM - 1:44 PM

Gitty up, Couldn’t agree with you more. Although I’m not retired, I work at Macy’s I am past retirement age. However, retail hours are perfect for a night person like me. So no I’m not about to get up and shop before 9 a.m. I don’t why people think retired and older people are always up early.

Fishmonger March 29, 2020 - 1:17 PM - 1:17 PM

Good, should be closed earlier..stop the TP hoarders..Was at Costco yesterday, saw 2 women with 2 carts with 3 large cases of TP..I said to one, How greedy can you get? She just glared at me. Told the other one she was just as bad as her friend..

Shoulda Coulda March 29, 2020 - 2:48 PM - 2:48 PM

Good for you Fishmonger!
It’s sad that some folks feel no shame
for their greedy actions. Do you recall
when teenagers use to go out and “TP”
their friends homes? Those were the
good old days. I hope they’re back soon.

concord ygnacio March 29, 2020 - 5:33 PM - 5:33 PM

You were very rude. It is obvious she was buying the rolls for her business, or uses a lot of toilet paper for her family. I use a roll per day myself. Assuming she has 6 kids and a husband, that is 8 rolls per day.

G. March 29, 2020 - 7:13 PM - 7:13 PM

What are you doing that requires a whole roll in a day? One roll lasts like a week at my house.

Justifiable languor March 30, 2020 - 9:01 AM - 9:01 AM

I agree G. One roll of TP a day per person is a RUDE overuse of the product. Take a shower!

S March 30, 2020 - 10:45 AM - 10:45 AM

and stop eating so many beans…. Mix some rice with it for gosh sakes……

Ivan March 31, 2020 - 7:37 PM - 7:37 PM

Can’t believe you said one roll per day, Shesh buddy you have a problem.

Brandi March 31, 2020 - 9:40 PM - 9:40 PM

8 rolls a day?
CY you are full of crap.

commoncents March 29, 2020 - 2:31 PM - 2:31 PM

@Fishmonger – I saw a pack of 24 online that someone wanted 50 bucks for – maybe it was one of those ladies…..

tango hotel March 29, 2020 - 2:55 PM - 2:55 PM

This is all good and well to be able to stock and clean, but it does kind of screw some essential workers who need something at Costco during the week and don’t get home until after 6:30.

Antonius March 29, 2020 - 4:15 PM - 4:15 PM

Not worth the risk,$$ or effort. We went Thursday 26 March. I thought it was for Seniors>>>. The long line was all around the parking lot at 8:30 AM, took about 20 min. to get inside after waiting in line and telling people to stop trying to cut into the front of the line which was not organized in any way. There were 450 people in the store when we got in. I know that because the employee next to me had a radio and that is what management said, My wife and I were both concerned, got a few items and ran like Hell, never again. Maybe go back in a month or two 🙂

JJ March 30, 2020 - 5:11 AM - 5:11 AM

There are other stores open that don’t have lines and have toilet paper.

Why create scary stories for people just because the only store you shop at doesn’t have what you want?

Antler March 30, 2020 - 3:09 AM - 3:09 AM

I appreciate their consideration. Overnight, their crews are sanitizing and restocking the store (with as much as they have). There are no carts with sneezing and coughing children, and there is no jostling.
I have used the early shopping courtesy at Safeway, and all of us were observing the 6-foot advisory. Just as importantly, we were smiling at one another and giving one another verbal greetings. There were no paper goods at all (the times I was there), and the Dave’s Bread man had not dropped off my very favorite type of bread…. but there was plenty of delicious bread and many other brands, too. There was no deli service as yet, and the butcher counter had nothing at all in it; à few packages of meats were out in the refrigerated shelves.
