Several townhomes under construction went up in flames on Willow Pass Rd., across from Concord City Hall on Thursday night just before midnight.
Flames could be seen from as far away as hwy.4, according to witnesses.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation. It’s currently unknown how much damage was done to the project.
UPDATE: Fire investigators are currently on scene.

I could see the fire from my home off Port Chicago. I can see all of Concord from my living room. But was unsure of what area I was looking at. The flames were high. Was so relieved when I started hearing the Fire Trucks. Hope no one was hurt.
Is this the 2nd time for these to burn? If I remember right, these burned a few years back when construction first started….

That looks like that could be that arsonist that set the other fires of condos/apartments in Concord and Oakland. I hope not. Good thing that know one was injured or killed. Hope they will soon find out the cause. Scary.
It probably was. I could have sworn they caught him a couple of years ago. Then again, he could have been one of the many dumped out on the streets because of COVID.

Yes. As previously noted. Nearly every new construction of multiple dwellings gets set on fire in Concord. You would think by now the developers would hire security.
Somebody didn’t get the percentage they wanted. Dats what happens when you skimp on labor you get faulty wiring and what not.
Who is protecting these properties, because whatever security company these property builders are using should be fired and lose their licenses.

No,…this is not the same building. These are the Townhomes, about a mile away on Willow Pass. The one that burned before are Condos closer to down down.
Correct, not far from where I live, since I life off Willow Pass. The ones that burned before, which is closer to downtown Concord, by the Grocery Outlet where the ones that burned earlier, arson, and ever since they have a high wire security fence around them. Seems like it might be a good idea for all new construction in this area to have that.
And less than 2 weeks ago the ones near Clayton and Farm Bureau burned, midway into construction.

These are further down, near City Hall. The one you are thinking of is near the theater.
There have been a lot of late night fireworks in the area of this fire, last night in particular. I wonder if one of those could have been the culprit. It’s only a matter of time before one of these lunatics sets the neighborhood on fire. Praise to the great men and women of the Fire Department for containing this one!
Modern building materials don’t burn very well. I can’t imagine a firework having enough energy to start something there on fire with no accelerant…
There are many security cameras in that area. I’m sure the suspect was aware of this so we will likely see pictures in the very near future if it’s not considered racist of a male dressed in a hoodie and jeans, slender build riding a bike carrying a small pack pack.
There were a video of someone, when the other condo’s by Grocery Outlet burned, it showed a white male looked to be middle age.
He was arrested a couple of months later. From what I remember, he installed flooring on new developments and was a pyromanic. None of the fires were set with any agenda.
I never heard anything about him after the arrest.

@Bob Foo – While modern building materials don’t burn very well construction sites sometimes have piles of leftover shipping material such as pallets and cardboard that ignite easily and burn very hot.
Two of the pictures show what looks like a thoroughly burned debris pile that burned the scaffolding that was above and with the fire getting into the interior of that part of the building.
There also appears to be a container in the debris pile. This could also be spontaneous combustion if there was sawdust plus leftover wood sticks in the container.
Curious, as to type of framing used in construction.
Anyone know are they using wood or steel studs ?

Walking the BART trail and around north Concord, I’ve seen a suspicious number of lighter fluid bottles. Scary!
