Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, John Muir National Historic Site (NHS) is increasing access.

Beginning April 21, 2021, John Muir NHS will reopen access to:

  • John Muir’s historic home for limited, family group tours (increased capacity).
  • The Visitor Center gift shop which is operated by Western National Parks Association.
  • Strentzel/Muir gravesite open M-F 10:30 to 4:30 for pedestrians and bicyclists and weekends by ranger led tour as staff are available.

In addition, the following spaces continue to be available:

  • Mt. Wanda Trails – during daylight hours.
  • John Muir orchard and the surrounding picnic areas – open 7 days a week, 10 AM to 5 PM, following the same hours as the historic home and visitor center. John Muir NHS is located at 4202 Alhambra Avenue, Martinez.

With public health in mind, the following facilities remain closed at this time:

  • Martinez Adobe (closed due to seismic instability)

The NPS encourages visitors to plan their visit by checking the park’s website and social media for current conditions and travel tips.

Hasn’t Muir been cancelled yet?

He MUST be cancelled!
I heard he looked at a slave once.

He also started all those Bigfoot stories by running around barefoot in the woods.

I’m not kidding!
Look at the size of his feet!

It is nice to joke about Mr. Muir’s looking but I would feel much better if the MRTZ PD exercise some undercover surveillance of visitors. They would not need be blacks as there were many whites miscreants vandalizing in Portland. Look how meek and docile WC PD reacted to the vandalizing in WC!
