Why were the police even involved.
This is obviously a job for a counselor.

Oscar grant July 15, 2021 - 8:29 PM - 8:29 PM

No one’s asking for counselors to respond to crimes like this: that’s a nice strawman, but try to stick to the subject at hand or arguments that are actually made by people

Cops on Quora always like to say that no matter how fast you go, you can’t outrun a radio. It would seem that this doesn’t apply to bicycles.

Bdpirate July 15, 2021 - 11:48 AM - 11:48 AM

Obviously the Keystone cops weren’t trying very hard for the guy to get away 3 different times…

My first thought when reading this story was to post a link to a recording of Pat Boone singing “Speedy Gonzales” but then as I gave it further consideration I decided doing that would really be just making light of what was in fact, a very dangerous situation which should be regarded seriously, tho when I got to the part about the suspect ditching the car and escaping by bicycle it brought to mind the end of a Benny Hill Show with Benny being chased by dozens of people.
I didn’t post a link to that either.
It’s time for me to start taking these things more seriously.

I was on a jury where a guy living at a YMCA in San Francisco took the train to San Mateo, stole a bike from a school and rode it to downtown San Mateo where he robbed a jewelry store. He locked all the employees into a walkin safe, took what he wanted and rode the bike back to the train station for the return trip. He pleaded insanity which I thought was a pretty good chance but we just found him guilty.

Thank you Kamala Harris (job jumper-heels up vice president) as you pushed for Prop 47 to be passed that allows criminals to steal up to $950 with no prosecution or consequences. What a great example of leadership.

Becton and the rest of the Soros followers are simply ravaging our county, state and country.

So how is this working for you all who voted these liberals into office?
Wait til you or your family get a taste of what these people and criminals do to youy personally. See if your turne will change then.

Pay attention and read voting materials do not just rely on the leftist media as this is what helped get us in this situation.

Cautiously Informed July 15, 2021 - 7:54 AM - 7:54 AM

Wow. All that work, effort and risk to the police officers and to the public. In the end the criminal will most likely onlyget a slap on the wrist and be set free, thanks to the vile democrat politicians and their supporters.

Old Timer July 15, 2021 - 8:05 AM - 8:05 AM

Another one gets away. Can you believe the Concord PD couldn’t catch him on a bicycle.lmao oh well he wouldn’t have jail time anyway.

Cellophane July 15, 2021 - 8:27 AM - 8:27 AM

Wouldn’t do much good if the driver was apprehended.

The DA probably wouldn’t prosecute.

The driver didn’t hurt anyone.

No harm, no foul.

Americans should be following Cuba’s lead.

This sounds like a movie…stolen car…bicycle…foot chase….gone. wow.

Two Wheeler July 15, 2021 - 5:21 PM - 5:21 PM

Cops drove within policy, and the law. The crook did not, Had the officers violated policy and crash, you hyper-critical people complaining that they couldn’t catch the crook would be unhappy if the cops crashed or hurt an innocent person. Can’t make some of you happy…ever.

ConcordMike July 15, 2021 - 6:01 PM - 6:01 PM

“ The driver has gone through multiple red lights during the pursuit.”
I haven’t seen too many pursuits where they stop at red lights.

PESFG July 15, 2021 - 6:02 PM - 6:02 PM

Whaatt!!?? A Hispanic causing trouble at night not giving a d*** about killing somebody with those antics! I guess he was rushing to get to bed to get up at the crack of dawn to do the job an U.S Citizen won’t do. Well, that’s the rhetoric some use to excuse such behavior.

Ignatz July 15, 2021 - 7:03 PM - 7:03 PM

A little surprised at the sarcastic and/or negative comments about the police. I’m sure if they had caught him there would be virtual high fives.
Having had my vehicles stolen before, I also wish the criminal had been caught but still applaud, appreciate and support the effort of the police.
Here’s hoping he gets caught next time or through finger prints!

My comment was meant for Two Wheeler.

As for police chases I’m ambivalent. they can end up hurting or even killing an innocent person. Years ago I remember a woman got killed by a police car chasing someone, not sure if it was the City or Alameda County don’t remember. When I did staffing for a homecare agency, we had a case of a doctor that sustained a serious head injury, by a police are chasing someone, (would never practice again) downtown Los Altos on a Saturday night coming out of the movies with his wife. Very tragic.
