Pleasant Hill residents are being encouraged to apply for a seat on the City Council after a councilmember was elected in November to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.

Applications for the council seat will be accepted through noon on Jan. 27 to replace Ken Carlson, who was elected as supervisor to represent the county’s District 4.

The City Council will interview prospective candidates and will make an appointment at a meeting before March 1, city officials said.

Applicants must be registered voters in Pleasant Hill and the appointee will serve through the rest of Carlson’s term that ends in December 2024.
