The CHP is saying Pittsburg resident Damond Lazenby, whose vehicle was found abandoned on Port Chicago Highway in Concord on Jan.1, and whose body wasn’t found until Jan.7 on the shoulder of hwy.4, in between Port Chicago Hwy. and Willow Pass Rd., was struck and killed by a hit and run driver.

The CHP believes Lazenby was struck by the right front portion of a vehicle, and the driver fled the scene.

The vehicle is possibly a dark color sedan.

If he was killed by a hit and run driver, why wasn’t his body discovered when his family, friends and the police searched the same place where he was eventually found? And why was he wearing different clothes than he was wearing when he went missing? And why were his clothes dry when it had rained all week? Something seems off. I hope they get to the bottom of all this.

how could they possibly know the vehicle is possibly a dark colored sedan? The body wasn’t even found for seven days. If someone saw a car, wouldn’t they have seen a body?

This investigation is very confusing. So was the body there the whole time or not? How about his clothes not being drenched in rain? Now there’s evidence of the hit and run vehicle? Things are just not adding up anymore… very devastating. Sending peace and love to his family <3

Truly horrible. There have been so many hit and run cases of late.

This account, as other commenters have made absolutely clear, makes no sense.whatsoever.

I smell a major cover-up and this young man’s family and friends, not to mention, the public deserve the truth.

How can it be a hit and run the initial day he was determined misding, yet he was found seven days later with different clothes on that were not wet or dirty, not to mention, in the same area where authorities and others had previously searched? We need to hold the authorities accountable!

This story smells to the high heavens!

What are you guys saying – that the cops killed him and are engaging in a coverup? Killed him by hitting him with a car? And where does all this info come from – dry clothes, etc?

Or are we saying that he was kidnapped, then returned to the place of the car – either already dead or killed there? Who would do that?

.
The keyboard gum shoes are put en masse!
.
How thorough was the search conducted by the family and friends? Was it an organized search with law enforcement?
.
Maybe one of the searchers is actually involved and purposely covered where the body was located so as to divert suspicion.

I thought they also said that there wasn’t any visible signs of injury or cause of death. If you were hit by a car “on the freeway” hard enough to send you over the guard rail, one would think there would be visible signs of trauma. May he rest in Peace and the family be consoled.

This is horrible! The family states they searched there, meaning he wasn’t there! It poured down rain so he would of been soaked. Something is very off! I hope the family gets the answers they need. Prayers to them during this horrible time!

First this is just preliminary information as no autopsy results have been released, at least not to public. We don’t know what happened, but here’s some food for thought.

Has time of death been established? Day or estimated time frame may be helpful. I find it hard to believe body has been where it was found on 1/7 since 1/1. Why? Because traffic backs up right there every work day during commute. Yes it was holidays & fewer commuters but I still think someone would have seen him. Afterall someone “just happened” to see him 1/7, as family and friends were searching down the road at the park where phone last pinged? Additionally Concord PD claimed they had searched this area on foot, with ATV’s, & drones. Family & friends had also been searching this area days prior. Did they find his phone? We haven’t been told so it’s a possibility. Could he have changed clothes, yes. Why? Unknown? Wasn’t certain if first report stated his clothes were found with his car? If so, then he had change of clothes. They can’t share all information at this time as it protects the integrity of the investigation. At this point I have hundreds of questions and very few answers, I’m sure his family & friends feel this even more. My thoughts & prayers to his family & friends. Praying for truth in God’s light. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🕯

If it was a hit and run on the freeway why did they find his car running at north concord Bart? The initial flyer went out saying they found his car there. This makes no sense.
