More gun laws are needed.

But it won’t stop illegal firearms or the people who acquire them for wrong doings.
Not fair to responsible law-abiding citizens, who follow the laws and lock up their legal firearms.
Wish people would see there is a difference between the two.

WC Creeker – I assume you are trolling because it seems obvious the offenders would not pay attention to any laws you would make.

…and that would make a difference how?

Having guns and drugs are illegal now.

The guns pictured are illegal in California right now.

Obviously it didn’t stop this person.

Criminals don’t care about gun laws.

Good call WC- I was thinking the same thing. Maybe start with baby steps and make mags more than 10 rounds illegal, that ought to stop the use of 30 rounders./s

I agree. Just look at the stats people. America is an actual laughing stock of the world for our gun violence. If we make reasonable law i.e. banning the AR-15, we can slowly start to remove those weapons of war from our communities. I was a marine and carried that weapon. It’s for war, not communities. You can’t even hunt with an AR-15 because it will destroy the meat. People need to be reasonable.

Hi Robert.
I had no idea the AR-15 could not be used for hunting “because it will destroy the meat”
I haven’t yet found the bullet that will not “destroy” some meat… how do you think it kills the animal? You aren’t a hunter are you?
I’d also like to know how you wound up carrying an AR-15 rifle in the Marines while everyone else was carrying an M16? The AR-15 is the civilian version of that rifle.

ROBERT,
.
Who cares what the rest of the world thinks of us? The fact that you think the rest of the world is laughing at us would make a difference is exactly why I wouldn’t support any gun control measures that you advocated for. When the rest of the world doesn’t like our president, or other elected officials, or something that we’re doing is exactly when I know we elected the right people or are doing the right thing.
.
Nice touch using the term “gun violence,” so that you can confuse the issue by not just counting murders, but by also counting accidental deaths, justified shooting deaths, and suicides. I’ll be referring to murders in my comments.
.
Again, nice touch using the term “weapons of war” which includes all firearms, because virtually every type or range of firearms can be found in wars of the present and/or wars of the past, making virtually all firearms “weapons of war.”
.
Rifles, all types of rifles, kill fewer than 500 people a year in the U.S., while handguns kill more than 6,000 people a year in the U.S. So you want to ban a range of rifles that kills a few hundred people a year, but not handguns that kill thousands of people a year.
.
Again, nice job misleading readers by inferring there’s no difference between military and civilian versions of the AR-15.
.
An AR-15 rifle or similar type of rifle works great for hunting, I’ve used them from time to time. Nice try sending that subliminal message that hunters are going to use an entire magazine on a single kill. This type of firearm is more often used for sport shooting than for hunting, but of course, you already knew that.

Robert, if you were in the Marines you would know they don’t carry AR-15’s. Your comment is entirely bulls**t.

Why do we tolerate state and local cops’ intrusive infringement on our Second Amendment rights?

What is it with gang bangers and their aversion to sights? A cheap set of folding sights for airsoft are like 20 bucks on Amaazon. At least you might hit near where you’re aiming then.

Instead they spray random kid’s bedrooms.

In order for gun laws to be effective for criminals the penalties for having one without a license would have to be equal to the penalties for the worst crimes they are used for: murder, armed robbery.

Until then conservatives are correct, slap on the wrist penalties won’t do anything. Same as we are seeing now for crimes like theft. Sad to say, nothing will change anytime soon just look at politics. Too many people don’t get news from enough legitimate sources. I read ALL sources of news and deduce my opinion after hearing both sides

Dr. Jellyfinger May 9, 2023 - 10:26 PM - 10:26 PM

There isn’t any license required to own a gun, and it’s already illegal for felons to have any firearms.

JEFF (THE OTHER ONE),
.
If laws worked we wouldn’t have criminals! The last time I looked at a rifle the first thing they showed me was how to put more bullets in the clip than the law says you can put in a clip, not that I needed to be shown. Do you have any idea how easy it is to make a large capacity magazine in ones garage? The fact is that if someone wants to kill, they will find a way to kill, with a firearm, knife, car, bomb, poison, or some other method. Laws are only good for those that follow the law, and those that fear the law, but does nothing for those that don’t give a damn about the law!

Angry American May 10, 2023 - 11:42 AM - 11:42 AM

Why don’t we just make murder and mayhem illegal?…. oh yeah right they are. Hmmm….so many questions (obvious sarcasm)
Great job CPD, give that dog a treat.
