Was it ever, “free parking,” when you returned to your car with busted glass from a break-in?

They need reparations money.

Pay to have your car broken into, to watch drugged out bums defecate in the street or to have a guy dressed as a bush ask you for money for pot…. I would be curious to have the comptroller and all open all the books to show where all the spending takes place, detailed not just “public welfare.” It would also be interesting to see how much revenue will be lost with big name stores like Whole Foods, Nordstrom’s and T-Mobile moving out of the city. Of course, we’ll never get to see that (certainly at the state level).

There again it’s a method to get more money. Crime, cars broken into, etc. along with businesses closing sure makes sense. Typical thinking with the city leaders. Then they wonder why people to go to the city.

domo May 21, 2023 - 1:26 PM - 1:26 PM

Doesn’t matter to me – don’t go there anymore, won’t go there till they clean SF up …. which means never as long as progressives run (ruin?) Cali

Well, the city might not get a bailout from the state for the budget deficit for public transportation agency so they have to find other ways; the agency can’t fine muni fare evaders cuz they don’t have money to pay in the first place. So the best way is too extract money from people with cars, which is a luxury. I heard the city even extend parking hours.

Since when is owning a car a luxury?

When Mayor of SF, Gavin Newsom, who lives in luxury, did an abysmal job.
He directly contributed to SF turning into the steaming pile of sh** it is today. He still lives in luxury. And how are the people of SF doing? Terrible.
Tourism? Dead. Hospitality? Dead. Corporate events? Dead. Corporate headquarters and new business? Dead. Public Transportation? Almost Dead. Crime? Rampant.
Heck, even a panhandler can’t make a decent living. Gavin? Living in luxury.
He sure made chumps out of liberals. I’m starting to think they like it.

… speaking of Newscum… how come it’s off major media that he was going out with his friends wife when he was mayor…. then she divorced and married him? says something about his charachter but that sure won’t hit lib media much

Who drives to SF anymore? The days of driving into the City to have a nice meal and see a show are long gone. Public transit is not exactly an attractive option. Even Uber is leaving SF.

Dr. Jellyfinger May 21, 2023 - 4:25 PM - 4:25 PM

Speaking as a person who hasn’t “driven” to SF since 1989…. who cares?

Why don’t they just go ahead and have everyone pay for parking 27/7/365? City wants everyone to ride bikes, walk, take ride share, or otherwise fleece everyone the crooks miss.

Wesley Mouch May 21, 2023 - 5:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Now the meter maids will get OT. Winning!

Martinezmike May 21, 2023 - 6:39 PM - 6:39 PM

I would say that they should “go to hell” , but they’re already there.

Since most people would rather have a colonoscopy than visit San Francisco (although I’ve been told there are similarities), parking terms are irrelevant.
There was a time where San Francisco had art and culture. Now, It’s like a garbage scow sinking in the delta. San Francisco, to quote George Carlin, “Could knock a buzzard off a Sh** Wagon.”

no wonder nobody picked S F on last Friday’s Water Cooler…

The Wizard May 22, 2023 - 7:43 AM - 7:43 AM

I was thinking about do that as a joke.

Martinezmike May 22, 2023 - 9:01 AM - 9:01 AM

“Free parking” going away, but the space for “get out of jail free” will remain

Exit 12A May 22, 2023 - 12:30 PM - 12:30 PM

.
It doesn’t matter to us.
.
We don’t go to SF commercial or dense residential areas because of the crime, homeless, and general urban physical amd social blight.
.
Liberal policies have destroyed SF.

Since SF is heading to a financial train wreck, it will be looking for any and all ways to raise revenue.
Some ridiculously stupid methods will follow this one. The one that has been floated before is to
charge to enter San Francisco, which would be the final nail in the coffin. Nobody will go there.
Mayor London Breed is in way over her head, and doesn’t even know it. The “Stupidvisors” are mostly
far left wing ideologues hell bent on chasing away any sense of normalcy. Dark days ahead.

We already don’t go there. My wife and her friends don’t go to the theater there anymore. We don’t go out to dinner there anymore. They’re sucking air.

To Do List May 22, 2023 - 3:46 PM - 3:46 PM

When voters in Chicago realized their city was getting worse they voted out progressive mayor Lightfoot in favor of an even more progressive mayor. The latest polls show SF mayor Breed is unpopular so perhaps voters will vote in someone even more progressive. You can’t fix stupid.
