The entrance to the Safeway shopping center on Kirker Pass Rd. is blocked due to a vehicle -vs- semi collision.

It appears both vehicles were turning into the shopping center, and collided.

This is why you don’t try to pass a simi on the right when he in the left lane when his right turn signal is on. OUCH !

I am not sure, but i think that spot is where the car is in the turn lane and the Semi is turning from the second lane (not a turn lane). It seems like the semi is needing to turn from the wrong lane because of size. But does that make it legal? There are other ways to get into that parking lot.

22100(a) California Vehicle Code – Right Turns. Both the approach for a right-hand turn and a right-hand turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway. There are exceptions but there are not applicable in this collision.

The Driver of the Tractor-Trailor is at fault in this collision.

@BLUE KNIGHT…. Spout all the vehicle codes you want but the Laws of Physics override them…..”a right-hand turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb..…”, the applicable word there is “practicable “.

Well Blue Knight … it depends

See if the truck started in the right lane, signaled, and then veered left to go wide so they could make the right turn, the truck is completely in the right

As the truck cannot physically make the right turn from the right lane, they are required to veer left to make the right.

So some of the exceptions may apply. This comes from the commercial drivers book and common sense.

When you see that blinking light on a vehicle…… the one very few use…… and it happens to be a big truck…. then those of us with common sense, give them space, yes a big truck would have to make his turn from the second lane……. common sense tells you he can’t do it from the turn lane…… so only an idiot not paying attention would enter the space for him to use to negotiate that turn, if the truck driver had his signal on, then driver of car got what he deserved……

Some motorists dont have respect for big rigs or their drivers. People, big rigs are why there are groceries and goods in the stores and fuel in your tank. Give them space and your consideration.

Whether or not one philosophically “respects” trucks or truckers, respect for PHYSICS is not optional for those who wish to remain in the human gene pool.

Honda was in a hurry, there’s more than one entrance, totally avoidable.

Driving is the most dangerous thing most people will ever do. SLOW DOWN! Look, and THINK, ahead. Love one another. Peace.

I drive a forty foot fifth wheel travel trailer.Give the truck some turning space.I don’t think the car was paying attention.Thats why you have to be extra careful people are in a hurry.

I was run over almost exactly like this car was, and it was definitely the a-hole trucker’s fault. We were both stopped at an intersection waiting for the Marines to tell us to cross the intersection into the Charleston Navy Base. But the Marine came out and told the trucker that he wasn’t allowed at that gate, so the guy just cut hard right and drove right over me. Watching the spare tire carrier rake the entire side on my car made me angry and scared. That much damage today would probably be considered totaled, but 50 years ago, the trucking company paid to get my car completely repaired.

“Right as Right when You Zip Along, but You’re Just as Dead if You Were Wrong.”

When it comes to semi’s and those rock carrying trucks, cement mixers and every other vehicle that’s bigger than mine, they always get the right of way. I like being in one piece and alive.
