The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman who was struck by a truck and killed Tuesday afternoon in Pacheco.
Maria Zaragoza, 56, of Pacheco, parked her car on Marsh Drive and was crossing the street to a mobile home park just before 2:30 p.m. when she was struck by a northbound gray Dodge pickup truck.
Firefighters responded and performed advanced life-saving measures on Zaragoza, but she died at the scene, according to a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesperson.
The site of the collision is just west of Buchanan Field Airport. The California Highway Patrol said the driver of the truck wasn’t injured.
The CHP said the case remains under investigation and asked anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to contact their Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980 or to email their contact information to 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov to be contacted by the investigating officer.
