Starting May 7, in order to board domestic flights, you will need either a REAL ID or a U.S. passport.

QUESTION: Do you have a Real ID, or do you just plan to use your passport for domestic flights?

Talk about it….

I got my real id a few years ago when it was first demanded as a requirement. I fly at least once a year so I need to meet the requirement. I am surprised many have not gotten one yet.

While I have had it for a while my 18 y/o has an
identification card with it but not his license.
once he turned 18 we were advised that he has it on his ID and thus can not have it on his license.
I had not heard this before

5+ years ago – when license needed renewing – why did so many people procrastinate? … can’t blame DMV on this one .. if someone has a long wait now that’s on you imho

I have a real ID. Got mine in 2019. Also have a passport and passport card, so I’m covered

The last time I renewed my license, I got it. It’s not just for flying, but if I ever have to do
business with a federal agency like Social Security, or the IRS, for example, I will need a
real ID to enter the building.

… or even to buy ammo

No ID needed

Well, I would not post where you purchased the ammunition if you want them to say open.

Pursuant to 28180(a) of the California Penal Code

(a) The purchaser’s name, date of birth, AND driver’s license or identification number shall be obtained electronically from the magnetic strip on the purchaser’s driver’s license or identification and shall not be supplied by any other means, except as authorized by the department.

Last time i went to a certain sporting chain store and asked for ammo, the guy asked me”what are we hunting?”,but never once asked to see my ID when i bought it.

About 2 months ago I went to buy bullets for my new gun and was told I had to have a real ID. So I went to DMV and got one.

I do have a real ID however I’m going to have to reissue a new real ID because I’m moving to a new location

NO because I’m pissed! When I was 16 I produced everything that is required for a “Real ID” to get my first Driver License! Why am I required to produce it again! Actually I know why! And it’s not my problem, it’s the DMV’s!

Got passports as we don’t support Ca DMV. Passport will get us pretty much anywhere.

Ok I will bite.

How is getting a real ID supporting the DMV?

7

Because they are giving Driver Licenses to people without documents, which they never used to do!

Ahh correct me if I’m wrong Nimrod/Fed Up, but isn’t that the point of Real ID?!?

You have to prove your citizenship?

This is a federal requirement.
I use my passport too.

Don’t have one. 88 years old. Bred, born and raised in US.
Hackers leak 2.7 billion data records with Social Security numbers
Almost 2.7 billion records of personal information for people in the United States were leaked on a hacking forum, exposing names, social security numbers, all known physical addresses, and possible aliases.
Requires going to Oakland (county records) and DMV office. Both cesspools.

I would have gotten one in 2019 but I couldn’t find my birth certificate. I did have a passport but it expired of October of that year. I was also not big on the Brave New World idea of “Read ID”.
.
Fast forward to last fall and late summer I applied for the passport renewal through their online beta test. At least it assured me of receiving it before I needed to renew the driver’s license. The online application went like a breeze but the bigger surprise was for the passport showing up about a week later rather than the report 6 to 8 weeks. Also 2 or 3 days after I did their beta test version it was open to all.
.
Like I said it went like a breeze and the Real ID visit to the DMV should have too but they forgot in their email reminder to take along my special code so I had to reapply after I arrived at the DMV. I also told them I had already paid for it too but clerk said no. Thing is doing my taxes shows indeed there were two charges for that at the DMV. Time to deal with them again. 😡

“Was issued a Real ID in CA in 2017 when I renewed my license and in NV in NV in 2017 when I moved up here and again this year when I renewed my license

How do so many illegal aliens fly w/o a Real ID? Personally, I think it’s just another money grab for the states.
