A Pittsburg grocery store was evacuated Monday afternoon due to a gas leak.

Officials with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said on Twitter that firefighters were dispatched to the Safeway on Bailey Road around noon.

They discovered the gas was freon and evacuated the store.

One employee was taken to the hospital after having trouble breathing.

Freon is a trademarked type of chemical used as refrigerants, propellants and solvents.

A store employee said the store was still closed at 2:45 p.m. and the employee wasn’t sure when it would reopen.

Years back, the entire freon supply in our stores system blew out when a technician was working on it. The backroom looked like it had a thick fog in it. I rolled up all the doors to air it out, then had to go outside to clear the dizziness.

No one was evacuated then, and the store stayed open. Refrigeration was kaput for six hours though, and had to toss a ton of perishable stuff.

You know….. I’m not sure if I ever mentioned the idea of keeping a record of all the deleted comments and all the posts that never even made it onto Claycord to offer as an amusing book for sale, I think it would sell well, but what about adding a book of all the stupidest posts of all time too?
Don’t know why that just occurred to me…
