Three Bus Bridge Weekends Added In October And November For Trackway Repairs Near Pleasant Hill BART Station

BART has been replacing concrete ties near the Pleasant Hill Station which were damaged as part of the heat-related derailment on this portion of the track in June.

They’ve been operating trains at reduced speeds in this part of the system since the incident. For the safety of the work team, service near the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre Station will be reduced to one track for this work on the following Sundays:

  • September 25
  • October 2

Riders in the area should plan to add 15-20 minutes to their trips on those Sundays.

The work will also require three non-consecutive weekends in October and November when track crews will need the entire trackway space to perform these repairs.

On the following weekends there will be no train service between the Pleasant Hill and Concord stations. Instead free buses provided by County Connection will replace trains between Pleasant Hill and Concord:

  • October 15-16
  • October 29-30
  • November 12-13

Riders in the area should expect delays of 30 minutes on the bus bridge weekends. To avoid the bus bridge, riders can begin their westbound trips at Walnut Creek or Lafayette.

Why don’t they do it at night after the systems shut down at night and then bring it back online before the morning commute? – you know, don’t inconvenience the passengers…. oh silly me….
